Hospice care is a medical pro- gram designed to provide comfort and support, physical, emotional and spiritual for terminally ill pa- tients and their families. Hospice care neither hastens death or prolongs life. When a patient with advanced disease realizes that curative treatments are no longer of benefit, the patient may elect to utilize hospice care. The goal of the care is to enable the terminally ill patient to live at home, as comfortably as possible; making the last stages of life as meaningful and fulfilling as pos: sible. Hospice Care of the VNA will recruit a group of volunteers from the community to assist the Pro fessional staff. For more volunteering call the VNA at 283- 0681 or 1-800-432-9791.
