a LAREN HERR RS A NX 10 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, September 14, 1994 Robert Cronauer wins 2nd week of football contest Robert Cronauer of Kitchen Lane, Harveys Lake is the local winner of last week's PA Power Points football contest. He scored 96 points of a possible 120 in picking the winners of 15 pro and college games. Cronauer's score put him in the middle of the pack of 27 local winners throughout the state. Stephanie Stump of Milton was the statewide winner with a score of 114 points. As the local weekly winner, Cronauer will receive a $25 cash prize from The Dallas Post and a free month of HBO from Tele- Media, co-sponsor of the contest. Entries for this week's contest are due by 2 p.m. Friday. They may be submitted either at the newspaper office at 45 Main Road in Dallas or at Tele-Media, Route 415, Harveys Lake. ~ Strikers season starts Oct. 4 The Noxen Strikers wrestling will start its 1994-1995 season Octo- ber 4 at the old Noxen school. Practice will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. until November, then 7 to 9 p.m. To pre-register, call Ron Swingle, 298-2212, John Houssock, 477- 2288 or Perry Coolbaugh, 333-5133. Registration will be limited. Those in fall sports will only be expected to make practice when they can until their fall sports are over, but must register. Junior football JR. KNIGHTS LOOK STRONG The opening games of the Lake- Lehman Jr. Knights football sea- son started on September 4 with all three teams posting victories over Edwardsville at the Lehman field. The scores were as follows: C Team 12-0; B Team 12-6; and the A Team 25-0. This week Dallas Mini-Mounts hosted Lehman. Two of the three teams remained undefeated. The C Team had a tough break with the Dallas Mini-Mounts having a 14-0 lead at the half. Joshua Marth ran for a 50 yard TD in the third quarter. The final score was Dallas 26 Lake-Lehman 6. In the B game, Dallas scored first with Dan Fetko making the TD. Lehman had a strong scoring drive in the first quarter with TD runs by Chris Teetsel and Joey Shurmaitis to bring the score to 16-6 at the end of the first quar- ter. Lehman maintained posses- sion of the ball in the 2nd quarter with TD's by Joey Shurmaitis and Justin Brink to end the half with a 30-6 lead. Dallas’ only other points came in the fourth quarter. Final score was Lehman 46 Dal- las 20. ~ The A Team is looking strong offensively and defensively. Jake Rambus and Warren Vogel each had two touchdowns in the first half for a 24-0 lead. The Dallas defense couldn't stop the Jr. Knights throughout the game. Irv Nulton scored in the third quarter and added the extra points for the team. Warren Vogel and Jake Rambus continued their scoring drives throughout the game to end the score at 52-0. MINI-MOUNTS C TEAM WINS The Dallas Mini-Mounts C- Team played its season opener September 4 against the Swoy- ersville Sailors. The Mini-Mounts C-Team pulled of an impressive victory with the score ending 12-8. The Dallas Mini-Mounts C- Team hosted Lake-Lehman on September 11, winning with a score of 24 to 6. Both Dallas Mini A and BTeams lost a hard-fought battle against the Lake-Lehman Knights. The Dallas Mini-Mounts will host Kingston on September 18 at the Dallas Senior High School field. RAIDERS WIN 2 OF 3 The Kingston Township Raid- ers held their season opener at the Dallas High School field against the Kingston Huskies. The C-Team started off with a 16-6 victory over the Huskies. Touchdowns were scored by Mitch Ruddy and Jonathan Bar- bose. A two-point conversion was made by Matt Rondina. A safety was scored when Bobby Zaruta brought down a Huskies player behind the end zone. The defensive line held the Huskies to only one first-down, which resulted in their only score. The B-Game final score was Huskies 6-Raiders 0. The Raiders had an excellent defense which, despite 3 injured players, held the Huskies to just 6 points. Final score for the A-Team was Raiders 20—Huskies 6. A pass from Kukosky to Tucker started the scoring. MattJackson added the two-point conversion. A Second touchdown was scored by Matt Jackson. An interception by Joe Stuppino helped set up another score. The final tally came with a repeat of the Kukosky-Tucker pass. The cheerleaders did an out- ‘standing job with their cheers and routines. Thanks to all who supported the team and helped at the bake sale, food stand, manning chains and to EMT's, Jason Jumper and Patty Snyder. Next game will be against the Shawnee Indians at the field in Plymouth.
