Wyoming Seminary sets plan for 150th anniversary A black-tie gala celebrating the 150th anniversary of Wyoming Seminary will be held September 23 atthe Ramada Hotel in Wilkes- Barre. Led by co-chairpersons Claire Evans and Kathi Flack, both of Dallas, the gala commitee is plan- ning a festive evening. Tickets are $75 per person, and are available from the Wyoming Seminary Alumni Office, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston. The gala kicks off a weekend of birthday celebration at the school, which enrolled its first class on September 25, 1844. On Sept. 24, a classic car and carriage show will be held at Nesbitt Field on Schuyler Avenue in Kingston, from9a.m.to4 p.m., will include cars and carriages from various eras of Wyoming Seminary history. A field hockey game on the Back Campus field, Maple Ave- nue, will pit an alumnae team against the Sem varisty players. The homecoming football game, which kicks off at 2 p.m. on Sat- urday will feature the Blue Knights versus Kiski Prep. On Sunday, Sept. 25, an anni- versary convocation will be held at 2 p.m. in the Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston. Abirthday party - complete with giant birthday cake - will take place on the Back Campus follow- ing the convocation. Named distinguished alumna Sweet Valley resident Eileen Elizabeth Haines was one of four distinguished alumni to be honored at College Misericordia’s recent alumni spring reunion. Haines received the prestigious Class Medallion, which recognized reunion class members for their professional contributions and com- mitments to community. Haines, a kindergarten teacher at Wilkes-Barre Academy, is a Director of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, a Red Cross instructor and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association.
