52 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, July 13, 1994 7 Trucksville UMC to host two 'sons of the Church’ As part of the Sesquicentennial celebration, the Trucksville United Methodist Church welcomes two “sons of the Church” as guest preachers onJuly 17 and July 24. The Rev. Bruce Cleasby, son of the late Thomas and Isabel Cleasby, will be the guest on July 17. Bruce grew up in the church; ® he and his wife (the former Nancy Reese) began their life-long jour- ney together as active members of the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the “White Church on the Hill". Rev. Cleasby had a distin- guished career in the Air Force; Major Cleasby retired early to answer God's call to ministry. He graduated from Kingston Town- ship High School, received a B.S. & from the University of Nebraska, Omaha and M. Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary. He has focused his ministry on personal evangelism, Christian family liv- ing and church renewal. Rev. Cleasby served Meshop- pen/Russell Hill Charge and Haweyton /Conklin Forks Charge in the Wyoming Conference and the Sharon Charge, Trinity UMC, Lancaster and Port Royal UMC in e Port Royal, South Carolina. On July 24, the Rev. Donald A. Anderson will be the guest preacher. The son of the late Donald and Emma Anderson, Rev. Anderson graduated from Dallas High School, received a A.B. from Union College (Kentucky) and M. Div. from Wesley Theological Seminary. He is currently a can- #3s guest preachers didate for Doctor of Ministries from Wesley Theological Seminary. Rev. Anderson was ordained elderin 1971 and was assigned to the Central United Methodist Church in Endicott, NY. He also has served Clarks Green UMC, First Church, Wilkes-Barre, and Castle Creek UMC in Castle Creek, NY. He is presently the pastor of the Carbondale United Methodist Church. Among his church responsi- bilities, Rev. Anderson was a member of the Scranton District Committee on Ministry in 1992; a Conference Trustee in 1990; a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry from 1975-1992 Presi- dent of the Sky Lake Board of Directors from 1975-1979 and Chairman of Committee of Camps, Conferences and Retreats from 1979-1983. : He is an active Red Cross volun- terand has received the Red Cross outstanding achievement award. He is also the recipient of the United Nations achievement award for refugee replacement and was a member of the 1989 Na- tional YMCA marathon champi- onship team. Rev. Anderson is married to the former Susan Warring and has two daughters and two sons. Monsignor John Bendik and Monsignor Kevin O'Neill per- formed the double ring ceremony and celebrated the Nuptial Mass in St. Therese's Church, Shavertown, and also bestowed the Apostolic Blessing of Pope John Paul 1I., Gary Kneal was organist and the soloist was Susan Hall. Trum- peter was Andrew Sescilla, cousin of the bride. : The bride was escorted down the isle by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Linda Bannon, sister of the bride, was chosen as matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Margaret Yenkowski, sister-in-law of the bride, Nancy Gensel, sister of the groom and Linda Jones, sister of the groom. Robert Jones, brother of the groom, was best man. Ushers included Gary Yenkowski, brother of the bride, Michael Wendel and Donald Sutton. Ring bearer was Ryan Bannon, nephew and godchild of the bride. Scripture readings were given by David Payne and Joyce Skow- ronski. Prayer of the Faithful was read by Mark Belenski. Offertory gifts were presented by Amy Sescilla, cousin of the bride, Sherri Conrad, cousin of the groom and Mary Wychock. An evening cocktail hour and dinner reception were held at the Golden Palace, Wilkes-Barre. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at Charlie Browns, Plains. The bride was feted at a variety shower given by her mother, the mother of the groom and attendants at the Chalet, Mountaintop. Mrs. Jones is a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School and Wilkes College, receiving her Masters Degree from Wilkes Univer- sity. She is employed by Mellon Bank as Assistant Vice President/ Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer. : Jones is a graduate of Lehman High School, a Summa Cum Laude graduate of College Misericordia, and received his Masters Degree from Wilkes University. He is employed by PNC Bank as Assistant Vice President/Community Development Officer. Following a wedding trip to Jekyll Island, GA, the couple are residing in Shavertown. ‘® The church will transform into Son Country Farm where all ages can share in growing the fruit of the Spirit.
