It still is, and many of these items would be quite attractive today. Library news Library displays first-graders' quilt project By NANCY KOZEMCHAK Fhe Back Mountain Memorial Library is displaying a unique handmade quilt on a special quilt rack in the office area of the li- brary. This quilt was made by Mrs. Larkins first grade class at Lake Noxen Elementary School. The quilt ties in with the chil- dren's book, “No Dragons on my Quilt” by Jean Ray Laury with Ritva Laury and Lizabeth Laury. : The book is the story of a boy, his grandmother, and a special quilt...plus full-size patterns for making the quilt. The children at Lake Noxen, with the help of par- ents stenciled the quilt, and tied the quilt together. The wonderful parents of the children quilted it for them. The quilt will be at the library until July 14. The helpers on the quilt in- clude Mrs. Chollak, Mrs. Degen, Melissa Larkins, doing stenciling and, Mrs. Chocallo; Mrs. Chollak and Mrs. Degen with the actual quilting. This quilt i is an interest- ing project and shows a lot of detail. The book will be on a table by the quilt for reference. The Ham'n Yegg Club is part of the annual library auction. The 48th annual auction will be held July 7 through the 10th on the auction grounds behind the li- brary on Huntsville Road in Dal- las. The Ham ‘n Yegg letter has been mailed to the supporters of the auction. This is a unique part of the auction funding. Some years ago, Mrs. TMB Hicks and William Moss came up with the idea of inviting all professional men to contribute a ham to be auctioned off over the block. This proved to be not very practical over the years because of the re- frigeration, so they solved the problem by asking for a check of $10 or more in lieu of the hams. The project became so success- ful that other residents were in- cluded in the request, and now, newcomers as well as old-timers are invited to contribute. In 1983, the amount of $10 was increased to $25 to cover increasing ex- RETO T0) DRT TOTO) (OTRO) 01 01 1 11044 Ih ORY IRN 007) MAH OI PATNI OF: Of BSN of ORR I J 4 NENA { 1 E 4 | J Where to park... and where not to with parking map Pane 1G ANTIQU ENTERTAINMENT § | The Dallas Post | penses. This funding is the initial monies to begin the planning, publicity and mailing costs for the auction. Anyone who did not receive the letter and would like to donate to the cause, you may mail your check to the library and mark it Ham ‘n Yegg Club as your con- tribution to the auction. New books at the library: “The Day After Tomorrow” by Allan Folsom is a novel which says ‘the future of the thriller begins here’. The time is now. In Paris, an American surgeon named Paul Osborn sees the man who mur- dered his father—and tries to kill him. In London, a renowned homicide detective from Los An- geles on assignment to Interpol investigates a baffling series of decapitations. In Geneva, a beau- tiful medical resident begins a love affair that will change her life forever. Deftly weaving together these disparate events, the au- thor reveals an international conspiracy of apocalyptic dimen- sions.
