Luzerne County Fair board elects officers for 1994 fair * At the December 15th meeting of the Luzerne County Fair board, Clem Norman, Jr., was elected president of the 1994 Fair, to be held September 7 through 11. , Donna Cupinski was elected vice president; Ayleen Landon, secretary and Lillian Piatt, treas- wurer, with Wayne Pettit as assis- tant treasurer. Norman, a member and past president of the Back Mountain Kiwanis, has served as vice presi- ident and concession chairman lover the last six years with the fair. . Donna Cupinski, has served as ‘secretary over the last eight years and will now take the position of vice president. She is a member ‘of the Back Mountain Jaycees. + Ayleen Landon, who has been with the fair for over 20 years as ‘Arts and Crafts Chairperson, will iserve as secretary. She is a member of the Federated Women of Dallas. Lillian Piatt has been treasurer of the organization for the last five years and has served on the board over the last 12 years. She is a member of Lake Silkworth Lion- ess. Ed Kelly, former president, will . serve as fair chairperson. He has served also as vice president and treasurer, and has served on the board for the last 10 years. He is a member of the Lake Silkworth Lions Club. The new officers and fair chair- person, along with the Queen and her chaperone, will attend the Pennsylvania State convention January 20 -22 at the Hershey Convention Center in Hershey, Pa. The next meeting of the fair board will be held January 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Harveys Lake American Legion, on Route 415 at the entrance to Harveys Lake. Anyone wishing to volunteer may attend the meetings. Newly elected President, Clem Norman announced that anyone wishing a member of the fair board to speak at their functions or meetings may call 639-3037. The children of Small Wonders Nursery School Classes, Shaver- town, recently entertained residents at the Meadows Nursing Facility, Dallas, singing holiday songs and presenting a poinsettia. " Girl Scout cookies on sale until March 13 The annual Penn's Woods Girl Scout Council's Cookie Sale will take place through March 13, 1994. The girls will sell the traditional shortbread “Trefoils”; a oatmeal peanut butter creme sandwich “Do-Si-Dos”; “Thin Mints”; a chocolate covered peanut butter patty “Tagalongs”; those fabulous caramel, coconut and cocoa “Samoas”; “Chalet Cremes”, lemon and vanilla sandwich cookies. This year's new cookie is “Juli- ettes”, a crunchy caramel and pecan treat, covered with a fudgy chocolate coating. All varieties of cookies will sell for $2.50 per box. Troops use the proceeds from the annual candy and cookie sales to enable them to do something that costs more money than their dues will allow, like a bus trip or camping.
