The Dallas Post 2 Dallas, PA Wednesday, December 29, 1993 Municipal notes LEHMAN TOWNSHIP At their regular December 20 meeting, the supervisors voted to: » Adopt the $493,605 budget for 1994, with no millage increase. Lehman Township's 14-mill real estate tax is the highest allowed by law for this size township. e Accept the high bid of $1,112.76 from Lester Ganoe of Shavertown for the wrecked 1988 Chevrolet police cruiser. Other bids were from Chambers Auto Sales for $661, Liberty Motors for $666.66 and Sev Newberry for $727. The supervisors instructed solicitor Peter Savage to draft an ordi- nance permitting the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority to dispose of its sewage, now that its line to the Dallas Area Municipal Authority (DAMA) is in use. The supervisors noted that they are currently surveying the town- ship's roads, concentrating in the Lake Silkworth area, to see which ones need work. The township can get a county grant up to $99,000 for road work if residents along the designated roads meet federal income guidelines. The reorganization meeting will be January 3 at 7 p.m., followed by the regular supervisors’ meeting at 8 p.m. HARVEYS LAKE BOROUGH At its regular December 21 meeting, the borough council voted to: » Approve two amendments to the entertainment ordinance, one expanding the definition of entertainment to include outdoor perform- ances, musical shows and carnivals for which any type of admission fee is charged. The new definition excludes church and school affairs and those conducted for charitable purposes. The second amendment sets the fine for convicted violators of the ordinance at $1,000 and court costs for each violation or 30 days in jail if the convicted person defaults on the fine. » Approve an amendment to the noise ordinance adopted in 1990 to set the penalty for each violation at $1,000 plus court costs per occurrence, with each day of violation being considered a separate occurrence. Council members noted that the new ordinances included any businesses operating in commercial (C-3) zones, which had previously been exempted from these ordinances. This last provision would include the Harveys Lake amphitheater and aligned businesses. » Adopt the $593,575 budget for 1994, with no tax increases. * Pay a final installment of $22,714 on the new ambulance, which the borough had agreed to help the ambulance company pay for. The ambulance company will reimburse the borough $4,000 from the sale of the old ambulance. « Officially change the garbage collection to Monday, with comingled recyclables being collected at the same time.
