SENSE ‘The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, August 4, 1993 7 Rural Leadership taking applications The Pennsylvania Rural Lead- ership Program is now accepting applications for the Fall 1993 term until August 31 for Class V. RULE is open to all adult rural Pennsylvania residents interested not only in improving their leader- ship skills, but also in improving the quality of life in their local communities. The first year, the emphasis is on resolving local, regional and state issues, while the second year focuses on national and interna- tional issues. Participants take an active role in the learning process and in program development. New skills ~are directly and immediately ap- plicable to current public issues and personal growth. The pro- gram focuses on developing per- sonal skills in these four areas: organizational skills, process skills, personal leadership and specific community issues. Selections of participants will incorporate those from diverse backgrounds with different inter- ests and goals and a demonstrated commitment to community involve- ment and solving public issues. Class fellows are based primarily in rural areas and must be at least 25 years of age. The RULE Program is a partner- ship between the public and pri- vate sectors with funds from indi- vidual participants; sponsoring organizations, private and public contributors, the Pennsylvania State legislature, the Pennsylva- nia Department of Community Affairs, and The Pennsylvania State RULE fellows are University. admitted without regard to age, ancestry, color, disability, orhandi- cap, national origin, race, relig- ious creed, political affiliation, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status. 7 Applicants will vie for one of 30 positions in the RULE V class.
