Visiting Nurses hold blood pressure clinic As part of the Visiting Nurse Association's 85th anniversary celebra- tion, the local home care agency is offering free blood pressure screen- ings to local groups. So far this year the VNA has held over 50 screenings for area civic clubs, senior citizen centers and church groups. Preventative health and wellness education are not new concepts to the Visiting Nurses, as community outreach programs have been part of the VNA's mission since its founding in 1908. The Visiting Nurse Assocation is a nonprofit United Way Member Agency. For more information about home care or to schedule a blood pressure screening for a club or church group, call the VNA's Commu- nity Relations Department at 283-0681. YMCA counselors certified The Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA, a United Way Agency, recently trained their day and resident camp counselors in First Aid and C.P.R. The YMCA operates two camp programs in the summer, a day camp program at Camp Kresge /HughBeaver. There are still some openings for weeks in August. Habitat for Humanity plans square dance August 20 Troop 281 Court of Honor Boy Scout Troop 281, Dallas, recently held their May Court of Honor at Frances Slocum Park with a Family Bar-B-Que. Merit Badges were received by the scouts and advancement to Life Rank was presented to Jeff Polley and Joe Lech. The Ad Altare Dei Re- ligious Emblems were presented to Tom Reich and Michael Dan- check. Scouts also received participation patches for the Mt. Trailblazer First Aid Meet for which they captured First Place, Snorkeling BSA Award, and the Mt. Trailblazer District Spring Camporee Patch. The first will be Fairy Prince and Princess for children 2-5years old and must be favorite Fairy Tale costumes. The Little Princess Contest is for 6-8 year old girls and will be judges on poise and personality. Junior Princess is for 9-11 year old girls and will be judged on poise and personality. Teen Princess is for 12-15 year old girls and will be based on tal- ent, poise and personality. All contestants must be a resident of Luzerne County.
