Box 366 Dallas, PA 717-675-5211 3 on ballot for Franklin Township supervisor Three candidates will be on the primary election ballot for Fran- klin Township supervisor this May. DemocratJosephd. O'Donnell, IIlis assured of winning his party's nomination, as he is unopposed. On the Republican side, in- cumbent Andrew L. Prebola is being challenged by William H. Miller, Sr. Last week, The Post spoke with O'Donnell and Miller in an effort to learn their qualifications and plans if elected. William H. Miller William H. Miller, Sr. has an- nounced his candidacy for Fran- klin Township supervisor. A resi- dent in the township for more than 21 years, Miller is running on the Republican ticket. Miller, (40, attended Wyoming Valley West High School and is a graduate of West Side Technical School. He has more than 20 years in road and highway construction and maintenance and is currently a carpenter's union employee of Coon Industries in Luzerne. “I am committed to a strong local government that truly lis- tens to people,” said Miller. “I have a desire to improve the township and I'm dedicated to honesty and integrity. “I think the supervisor is re- sponsible for making decisions on how the township money should be spent and on what,” said Miller, describing the respon- sibilities of a township supervi- sor. “The supervisor must also make other decisions to make the township a better place.” Miller resides with his wife, Sandra, daughter, Jessica, 14, and son, William Jr., 10. Joseph J. O'Connell III Joseph J. O'Donnell III has announced his candidacy for Franklin Township supervisor. The township resident for the 11 months will be running on the Democratic ticket. Areal estate property manager of the Donald Zucker Co., O'Don- nell graduated from high school in Long Island, NY and attended Stonybrook University, Pace Uni- versity in Manhattan and New York University. Before moving to Franklin Township last May, O'Donnell lived the majority of his life on Long Island. O'Donnell previously served as a senior real estate manager for the New York City division of real property and as the real estate manager for the borough of Queens. O'Donnell feels experience like that is vital to a supervisor in a growing community. “My initial challenge was the issue with the Crown Hill Road development,” said O'Donnell, of his reason for seeking the four- year office. “I saw a sincere lack of outlook in the development of the township. 1 didn't like the way they basically handled complaints from the people attending public meetings. I don't think the town- ship supervisors, especially (cur- rent Republican incumbent An- drew) Mr. Prebola, has projec- tions of what the township can be in the future. “I think it's basically represent- ing the people there,” said O'Don- nell when asked what he feels are the responsibilities of a township supervisor. “I think it's overseeing any development that goes into Franklin Township and making sure thatall rules and regulations set forth are monitored and ap- plied.” O'Donnell, 44, resides with his wife, Maryann, son, Joseph, IV, 7, and daughter, Jennifer, 9. Incumbent supervisor Prebola, who is also the township road- master, was unavailable for an in- terview, and did not return phone messages.
