Charles Wasserolt IV received his Eagle Award 25 years ago in 1967. ~ While it is not uncommon for a father and son to both be Eagles, it is unusual occurring within the + same troop. For his Eagle Service Project while a Life Scout and eagle candidate Charles undertook, with the enthusiastic assistance of members of his troop and others in the community, a special education assignment with the Wyoming Historical & Geographical Society that was designed to enhance * appreciation for the “Battle of Wyoming", (an event occurring during the Revolutionary War) and the special significance it held at that time for both the future of our community and that of our emerging nation. This service was accomplished by Charles’ direct involvement as volunteer coordinator for the 1991 Encampment and Reenactment and as editor and production manager of a historically accurate educational program booklet that was made available during both days of the event and has subsequently been provided to local school groups and individuals interested in local history at the time of the American Revolution. As volunteer coordinator he was responsible for securing help for site preparation, admission gates, security, parking, securing a refreshment stand vendor who would blend into the “period” Encampment scene, narrators for each day's battle reenactment, acquisition and set-up of a public Police coverage costs Harveys Lake a bundle By GRACE R. Achey allegedly donated the television to the police on the advice of a friend, Mark Kline of Harveys Lake, whom Achey had asked to help him get the D.U.IL. charge dropped. After unwrapping the television set, Spock reportedly told Achey that “the paperwork was lost.” According to the Luzerne County District Attorney's office, Spock's trial in Luzerne County Criminal Court has been scheduled to be called February 1. The ultimate value of Charles’ special participation is perhaps best summed up in the words of Mary Ruth Kelly, Executive Director of the Wyoming Historical & Geological Society, who when wriling to Charles’ Eagle Board wrote, “...this service project was a success for both the Historical Society and for Charles and his troop. Approximately 2,000 people came to the Encampment in 1991, and Charles’ involvement in the event helped to insure that these visitors had a quality educational experience. Through Charles’ leadership, the quality of the Society's Annual Revolutionary War Encampment and Reenactment of the Batlle of Wyoming was increased on several fronts.” Over 323 service hours were provided [or this Eagle project.
