Interment, Edge Hill Cemetery, West Nanticoke. HOWARD JOHNS Howard M. Johns, 77, of Lehman Township, died Jan. 22, 1993 in the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston. Born in Avoca, he was the son of the late Arthur and Viola Smith Johns. He lived in Dallas for 27 years, before moving to Lehman in 1973. He was employed by the Common- wealth Telephone Co., Dallas for 40 years, working as a cable in- staller and holding a management position, retiring 10 years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the United Methodist Chjurrch, the Daddow Isaacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas; the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association Inc., and was a life member of the Dallas Fire and Ambulance Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jennie Major, in 1986; brother, Thelbert; sisters, Helen Briedenbach and Marion Quick. . Surviving are his daughter, Shirley Rittenhouse, Kingston; three grandchildren; one great- grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 6, from the Lehman United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thom J. Morris, pastor offici- ating. . Moravec, 61, of Marcy Street, Larksville, died Jan. 21, 1993 at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston. She was the daughter of Mary Bala Mazur, of Plymouth and the late Joseph Mazur. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Joseph, son, Michael, Trucksville; four grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Char- lotte Thomas, Waverly, NY; several nieces and nephews. Private funeral was held from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home. J. FRANKLIN PATTON J. Franklin Patton, of Noxen, died Jan. 24, 1993, at home. Born in Noxen on Feb. 11, 1910, he was a son the late Oscar and Ethel Brown Patton. He at- tended Beaumont schools. He was a member of Noxen United Methodist Church, serving on the administrative board, as a trustee and as treasurer. He worked on the family dairy farm until 1974. He was also employed by the Noxen Tannery for 32 years. He served on the former Noxen-Lehman school board for 22 years and also on the West Side Vo-Tech School Board. He was president of the Noxen Local AFL-CIO for eight years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, on Jan. 17, 1990: brother Richard and grandson, John A. Kovalick. Hospital, Kingston. Born in Koflach, Austria, he was the son of the late Engelbert and Mathilda Nukam Stocker. He attended Meyers High School Wilkes-Barre. He was an Army veteran o World War II. He was a member of the Dis abled American Veterans, Post 282 Kingston. He was also a member o Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Prior to retiring, he was em ployed as a maintenance man for the Wyoming Valley Garment Co., Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert. He and his wife, the former Lillian Anderson, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in May 1992.
