Dallas Middle School poster winners Winners have been announced in the Dallas Middle School international poster contest “There's a world outside Dallas.” Every seventh grade student, submitted a poster for language or world culture's class and every eighth grade language student participated. There were over 350 posters celebrating the value of countries and cultures outside the United States. There were three winners ateach grade level: best overall, most artistic and the best presentation of theme. Bridget Baines won for “most artistic” with a drawing of a poor Africanvillage captioned “With our help there can be life outside Dallas.” Best presentation theme was by Angela Endrusick who drew a world topped by people carrying the flags of their countries and saying hello in their languages with the advice: “Start communicating with the world's people: learn a language.” “Best overall” for eighth grade was won by Robin Holeman with the theme: “There's a world outside Dallas: just open the door.” The “most artistic” was Nick Perrotto’s water color of a Pueblo Indian home and Mexican chili peppers. The “best presentation of theme” was Mark Kaschenbach’s poster on Germany, which included a picture of a small village named Kaschenbach from which his ancestors came. The contest was organized by language teachers, Gwen Quick, Ellen Boyer, and Lois Redmond and world culture teacher, Lena Baur.
