This year’s Annual Campaign target of $278,000 includes a $139,000 Alumni and Parents Phase goal combined with a $139,000 Community Phase goal. Black Knights band plays at Wilkes game The Lake-Lehman Marching Band was recently featured during halftime at the Wilkes University football game held at the Lackawanna County Stadium. Wilkes University Vice President of Development, Thomas B. Hadzor presented Robbie Trescavage, a senior from Shavertown, and Band Director, Edward Richards with a plaque in appreciation of Lake-Lehman’s participation. Richards and his wife, Maureen, are 1978 graduates of Wilkes. The Wilkes University Colonels beat the Upsala Vikings 31-20. Lake-Lehman band wins top honors at competition The Lake-Lehman High School Marching Band participated in the Tournament of Bands Chapter VII Championship on November 8 at the John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke. The band took First Place in Group II with a score of 95.9. They also swept the specialty awards, winning High Music, High Marching, Best Percussion, Best Band Front and Best Drum Major. Winning the Chapter Championship gains Lake-Lehman a place at the Atlantic Coast Championship to be held November 14 and 15, at the Lackawanna County Multi-Purpose Stadium, Montage. There, the local unit will compete against bands from 10 states. Lake-Lehman has won the Atlantic Coast Championship six straight years for a total of seven wins altogether. They hope to set a record of eight wins this year. Edward Richards is the band director, assisted by Maureen Richards. Rob Trescavage is the Area King's students earn Dan Conry, dean of admissions at King's College, recently announced that 124 freshmen who enrolled at the college this fall have received academic scholarships. Altogether, 472 freshmen enrolled at King's this fall, the third largest ‘freshmen “class "in the 46-year history of the college. Finarelli named to dean's list Arearesident Albert S. Finarelli, III, of Dallas, was honored for being named to La Salle University's Dean's List during Fall Honors Convocation on Sunday, Oct. 25, on the university's main campus in northwest Philadelphia.
