This summer, the executive committee ofthe Haunted Barn proposed even more safeguards. ~~ For the 10th Anniversary of the Lehman Haunted Barn, the com- ~-mittee decided to install a new 100 ampelectrical service, anew emer- gency lighting system, and addi- ~tional fire protection on each of the three floors. After a few trial runs, the safety systems seemed to help, but unfortunately a few people have entered the building and were never seen again. Gate of Heaven Halloween Festival Oct. 23 A Halloween Festival will be held Friday, Oct. 23 at Gate of Heaven School Gym, Dallas, from 5-7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door: $5 per child; adults free. Fall Fair board to meet October 21 The Dallas Area Fall Fair Board will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m. at the Horseshoe Building on the fairgrounds. A recap of the fair will be given and plans for the '93 fair will be discussed. Ed Kelly will preside. Open air art exhibit opens October 30 En Plein Air '92, an exhibit of art from the open air, will be on dis- play at Sue Hand's Imagery, Main Street, Dallas, October 30 through November 1. The exhibit will con- sist of artwork created by Sue Hand, Leigh Pawling, Diane Czajkowski, Jean Fader, Linda Ondish, Karen Shelley and over 20 other artists as they present local and vacation landscapes painted in the plein air tradition. The paint- ings and drawings represent a variety of media, including oil, alkyd, watercolor, graphite, pastel and others. The artists range in experience from professional, to hobbyists and students, but all are dedicated to plein air painting. “En plain air: is a classical French term meaning “in the open air,” which is applied to artwork created outside, on location, “in situ.” Local art collectors are invited to preview the exhibit on October 30, from 9 to 5 p.m. at Sue Hand's Imagery. A “Meet the Artists” re- ception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. that evening. Additional ex- hibit hours are Saturday 9 to9 and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. days and Saturdays.
