He was employed by the King- ston Dairy for 30 years, retiring 20 years ago. He was a member of the Kunkle United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by brothers, Gersham and Ralph Hoyt. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Florence Steltz, Kunkle; sons, James C., Lehman; Lee A., Orange; daughter, Donna Kelly, Noxen; brothers, Alfred A., Stanley J., Raymond C., all of Kunkle; Willard J., East Dallas; sister, Ruth C. Born in Sweet Valley, Jan. 27, 1925, he was the son of the late Clifford and Anna Wilkinson Stroud Sr. He resided in Sweet Valley for most of his life, prior to moving to the Meadows Nursing Center two years ago. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed as a carpenter for Whitesell Brothers Contractors and later for Newberry Estates, Dallas, retiring 13 years ago. He and his wife, the former Helen Rinehimer, celebrated their 47th anniversary last December. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Wilson. Surviving in addition to his wife, are sons, Fred L. Jr., Troy; William H. Before retiring, he served at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas. During World War II, he served with the Army in Europe and was decorated with the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. In her later years, she was a private duty nurse and also cared for the elderly at Maple Hill Nursing Home in Lehman and at Carpenter Nursing Home, Idetown. She was a mem- ber of Dallas United Methodist Church. She was also a former member of the Senior Women's Club, Dallas. She was preceded in death by brothers Wiley and Clyde.
