Only about 11 percent of the 388,000 students who took AP examinations in May 1992 per- formed at a sufficiently high level 8 to merit such recognition. Eight students qualified for the AP Scholar with with Honor Award by earning grades of 3 or above on four or more AP examinations, with an average exam grade of at least 3.25. These students who gradu- ated in June 1992, are Mark Cameron, Wyoming; Raymond Shynn, Dallas; Sanjay Udoshi, Dallas. Dallas students participate in 1992 Governor’s School Tri Thi Ngoc (Trina) Huynh, a senior at Dallas Senior High School was selected for the 1992 Gover- nor's School for Health Care Pro- fessions. She attended the Gover- nor’'s School during the summer. Trina ranks in the top three per- cent of her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the Student Council She has participated in forensics, volleyball, basketball and track while in high school. She has re- ceived the Presidential Academic Fitness Award, the English award at the Honors Banquet and was selected as the school’s represen- tative for the Hugh O'Brien semi- nar. Trina plans a future in the health care profession. Andrew Schwartz, a senior at Dallas Senior High School, recently participated in the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts held at Mercyhurst College this sum- mer. Andy transferred to Dallas, at the beginning of his junior year from Easton Area High School. At Easton Area High School Andy played tennis in grade 10 and was Drama Club President for two years and a member of the cast for two years. He continued his drama interest at Dallas participating in both productions as a junior. Andy plans to attend college and is pres- ently considering a major in The- atre. Two attend University of Pennsylvania Thirteen residents of Luzerne County have matriculated into the Class of 1996 at the University of Pennsylvania. Among those admit- ted were: Stephen J. Kimm, Shav- ertown, graduate of Wyoming Seminary, attending the Wharton School. Also, Sanjay Udoshi, Dallas, graduate of Wyoming Seminary, attending the College of Arts and Sciences. They recently traveled to Vestal, New York to participate in the 13th Annual Golden Circle of Bands Competition. The band was awarded first place in their group. They also won Best Overall Per- cussion and Best Overall Drum Major. This year’s field show music is “Colovetsian Dances,” a ballet which occurs in the opera “Prince Igor” by Alexander Borodin. The design staff includes Marc Sylvester, drill designer; Edward Richards, musical arranger; Todd Marcocci, visual ensemble de- signer; Dave Gambal, battery per- cussion arranger and Ed Teleky, pit percussion arranger. The instructional staff are Marc Sylvester, Rob Piechota, Dave Shafer, Mike Andrusis, Edward Richards, and Maureen Richards, drill instructors; Todd Marcocci and Maureen Richards, visual ensemble instructors; Dave Gam- bal, Ed Teleky, Lee Rudnicki, Ron Hess, Rick Keller, Mike Andrusis, Edward Richards and Maureen Richards, percussion instructors.
