He retired in 1975 from United Nuclear Corporation as an Operations Supervisor. Born Jan. 2, 1930, he was the son of the late Dewey and Georgia Roberts Mitchell. A lifelong resi- dent of Kunkle, he served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a construction mechanic. He and his wife the former Dorothy Lugar, celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on July 10. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles (Bud) in 1985. THOMAS VISGILIO Visgilio will chair Rotary Foundation Thomas Visgilio, director of the honors and gerontology programs atKing's College, recently accepted the position of Chairman of the Rotary Foundation Scholarship Subcommittee for District 7410. In this position, Visgilio will assist the Rotary Foundation in selecting Foundation scholars from area students who seek the opportu- nity tostudyata university abroad. Visgilio, a Shavertown resident, is also associate professor of phi- losophy at King's. Past chairman of the college's philosophy depart- ment, he received King's Christi Regis Award and has taught at the college since 1964. He has also served on the National Standards Committee and Membership Committee for the Association of Gerontology in Higher Education. Robert Griffith teaches metal workshop Robert Griffith, son of Richard and Dorothy Griffith of 16 South ‘Main Street, Trucksville, was an instructor at the Peters Valley Summer '92 craft workshop in New Jersey. Robert, a former Dallas resi- dent, resides in the Scranton area, with his wife, the former Karen Kaschenbach of Dallas and their daughter Jessica. Participants in the workshop were taught to conceptualize, de- sign and construct a piece of metal sculpture for garden or gallery. Instructions included cutting, forming and construction process suited to the participant's ideas. Robert is an experienced sculp- ture metalsmith and instructor. He maintains a studio in Montrose and is associate professor at Mary- wood College, Scranton where he teaches three dimensional design, sculpture and metalsmithing.
