The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Tuesday, December 24, 1991 7 Systematics employees collect food ‘Thanksgiving for thirteen needy area families was much brighter this year, thanks to the employees of Systematics, the data processing provider to Commonwealth Telephone and C-TEC. According to Kay Davenport of Systematics, two hundred employees collected approximately $2,700 in donations of food items and an additional $1,300 in cash donations, which was used to purchase extra food. “Each food box included various kinds of non-perishable food items, a canned ham and a turkey,” Ms. Davenport explained. “We hope that these food gefts will help feed each family for several weeks.” Food boxes were delivered Tuesday evening, November 26. Committee members included, first row: Charles Kishbaugh, John Billard, Bob Shormaker, Ken Battista, Victor Mikolajek, Brian Kawczenski; second row: Steve Newman, Kevin Miller, Kim White, Roberta Visniewski, Kay Davenport, Bill Holena, Robert Stanski, Gary McDermott, Ann Oley, and Bernadette Drobish. Joseph Ryan honored on retirement as prison superintendent Joseph Ryan was honored December 20 before his retirement as superintendent of the Correctional inggaution at Dallas at the end of this month. Ryan has served in the state correctional system for 32 years, and has been superindendent at Chase for the past nine years. He was presented with proctamations from the state House, Senate, and Governor, as well as with a gift from the Citizens Advisory Council for the prison. The township's $1,081,000 budget was passed as previously planned at the December 17 supervisors’ meeting. Although expenditures are expected to increase by $1,766 over last year, the supervisors held the line on the township's 6-mill property tax. In other business, the supervi- sors announced that township road crews will pick up discarded Christ- mas trees the week of January 20- 24, weather permitting. Residents were again reminded not to park cars on township streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Bob Parker and Tom Doughton were reappointed to three-year terms as representatives to the Dallas Area Municipal Authoriy (DAMA). January, 1992 will begin Parker's third term and Doughton's second as DAMA representatives. Township residents with a real estate or surveying background are invited to apply to fill the va- cancy on the planning commis- sion left when Kathy Lawrence resigned in November. This posi- tion's term is three years. Inter- ested residents may contact any member of the planning commis- sion or Zoning Officer Len Kozick, at the township building. (Post Photo/Eric Foster) Dallas Elementary donates food to the SPCA Students from the Dallas Elementary School donated 18 boxes of pet food to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) on December 19. The 800 students at the school began col- lecting the food in the first week of December. The project was organized by teachers Susan Butcher, Judy Roeder, and Joyce Youren.
