Michelle enrolled as a student at Lake-Lehman when she was inseventh grade when her family moved here from Virginia. “Since attending Lake- Lehman High School have been * on theyearbook staff, a member of Student Council, member of the language club and in . academics. My average for the year is 3.98. “I have been accepted as a ‘vss Hughes Scholar at Penn State fie Main Campus for Life and + Sciences and I will major in ‘biology. Christopher Kocher, son of Loyalville, was the Salutatorian at Lake-Lehman High School graduation ceremonies Monday night. Christopher as did the valedictorian, addressed his fellow students briefly as they took their final step to enter the ~outside world. ~ An exchange student to Mexico during his junior year, Christopher did not allow his . absence for the year interfere with his academic work and won -anaward as well asa scholarship to University of Pittsburgh where he, plans to major in English writing. While in high school he was active on the newspaper staff, participated in the JETS test winning an award, won a Regional Math Award and was Qelccted as one of the top 10 Students by the Harveys Lake MICHELLE RICHARDSON said Michelle. “I have enjoyed being a student at Lake-Lehman. As twins often do, both boys are planning to attend Luzerne Wouniy Community College in “the Fall. They do not plan to purstiec the same degrees, however, since Marc plans to earnadegreein criminal justice and David hopes toearna degree -.in real estate. ¥fMr.and Mrs. Andrew Kornova Although the twins have attended Lake-Lehman since they were sophomores, having moved here with their parents from Carlyle, they lost little time in adjusting to the area and to the school. Both boys played tennis in their senior year. “We liked it better at Lake- Lehman than at Carlyle,” said David. “The school was not so crowded and the students much friendlier. Lake-Lehman Class of '91 officers Class President Amy Harris, who graduated from Lake- Lehman High School, Monday, June 10, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David G. Harris of Noxen. Amy, a student in the Lake-Lehman District from kindergarten through 12th grade, was a foreign exchange student in the Philippines during her junior year. She was a member of the National Honor Society until she spent theyear in the Philippines which technically disqualifies heras amember but Amy is still an honor student ranking 18th in the class of 163. During her high school years she was active in theatre, girls volleyball and girls track. Amy is planning to attend the University of Oregon and major in journalism. Her sister, Heather, also an exhcange student, will attend college in Massachusetts. Derrick Balgona, son of Carol and James Culver of Harveys Lake, a member of this year's senior class, was the class vice ~ president. Derrick who has attended Lake-Lehman since in second grade, was active in the school’s wrestling program. He is alsoan Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting. He currently works part time at Drury's Del, Harveys Lake. He ranks 24th in the class of 163 graduates and plans to attend Penn State Wilkes-Barre but is undecided on a major. Secretary of the Class of 1991 is Amber Roese, daughter of Susanand the late Robert Roese, who lives in Lehman. Amber attended Lake- Lehman Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and was active in hockey, softball, chorus and the gifted program. She also likes music. She is planning to attend the University of Maryland and major in sign language so she can work with deaf children. Beck James, 1991 graduate, is treasurer of the class. She is the daughter of PollyJames and Richard James. Becky resides with her mother in Lehman. AstudentintheLake-Lehman District from kindergarten through her senior year, Becky has been active in field hockey where she filled the position as goalie, played girls soccer and was a member of the Peer Helpers. She plans to attend Wilkes College but is undecided about a major. / Becky works part time at Hillside Dairy and in her leisure time enjoys swimming, boating, walking, skiing in season, and music, Bonnie and Cheryl .Laubenstein, twin sisters at Lake-Lehman High School, were among the 163 students who graduated June 10. Twin daughters of Mr. and , Mrs. Jim Laubenstein, the girls | transferred from Sweet Valley Christian Academy to Lake- . Lehman in ninth grade. +. While attending Lake- Lehman Bonnie was basketball manager and Cheryl was a r manager for the Black Knights | wrestling team. | Cheryl also enjoys volleyball, Po BONNIE AND CHERYL LAUBENSTEIN Laubenstein twins complete education at Lake-Lehman swimming and hunting while Bonnie works most of the time at McDonald's. She likes swimming and being with her friends in her leisure time. Cheryl is planning to attend Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus and major in elementary education. Bonnie hopes toattend Business College but is not certain where at the present time. The girls, who live with their parents at Harveys Lake, havea younger sister Jaime, student in third grade. ANJANETTE RODZINAK AND ANDREA BUNNEY Anjanette Rodzinak, Andrea Bunney were student council leaders Lake-Lehman graduate of the Class of 1991 Anjanette Rodzinak is president of the Student Council. She is the daughter of Thomas and Leah Rodzinak, who reside in Hunlock Creek. Anjanette has always been a student at Lake-Lehman and has been a class president, president of the Student Council, captain of the cheerleaders, football manager for three years, member of the drama club, newspaper staff, Key Club and the National Honor Society. She is a also a member ot her church youth group and a Junior Church Leader. She also received the Presidential Academic/Fitness Award, was chosen for the Youth Salute Program, vice president of the Student Council and a semi-finalist at the Governor's School for two years. Anjanette plans to attend Albright College in Reading where she will major in accounting. Andrea Bunney, daughter of John and Beverly Bunney of Shavertown, graduated from Lake-Lehman Monday night. Andrea is vice president of the Student Council and attended Lake-Lehman Schools from kindergarten through her senior year. She was a member of the girls soccer team and for two years was in track. This past year she was a member of the Principal's Student Advisory Committee. Andrea also was a member or the National Honor Scoiety. She works part time at Hillside Dairy. Andrea plans to attend Kutztown University in the Fall where she will majorin business. ~ ROBINSMIGIELSKI HL Women's Club award won by Robin Smigileski Robin Smigielski, senior at Lake-Lehman, who graduated Monday night, was the recipient of the Harveys Lake Woman's Club Scholarship. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Smigielski was a former member of the Student Council and more recently third grade teacher for C.C.D. She also works part time at Jones Pancake House, Harveys Lake. Robin was one of those who applied for the scholarhsip and was fortunate to receive it. She plans to attend College Misericordia and major in elementary education. In her leisure time, Robin enjoys movies or doing creative cooking. Joanne Tregaskis was recipient of Offset Award Joanne Tregaskis, daughter ofJoan Bogardus, Harveys Lake, received the Offset Paperback Award which is given toa senior. A former Dallas student Joanne, transferred to Lake- Lehman in ninth grade when her mother moved to Harveys Lake. MostofJoanne’s activities are outside of the school day since she is a member of 4-H and has horses. She has won more than 100 ribbons and lots of trophies. “In 1991, I was named Outstanding 4-H Senior Horse Member,” said Joanne. also County Blue Form Winner and I made the State Horse Show two years. Denmon JASON TURNER AND MICHELE NAUGLE Turner and Naugle were student-athletes Jason Turner and Michele Naugle were named the recipients of the Student-Athlete Awards at Lake-Lehman this year. Jason Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Turner, Idetown, was a member of the soccer team lettering for four years, member of the volleyball team lettering for three years and a member of the Ski Club. He also excelled in academic programs and was a member of the National Honor Society and was on the staff of the Knight Life Paper. Jason plans to attend Skidmore College in New York and major in journalism, since he is interested in writing. A native of Idetown, Jason attended kindergarten through third gradeinschool at Paducah, Kentucky, while his father was working there and took his family with him. He returned to Lake- Lehman and entered school there in fourth grade where he has continued his education until he graduated Monday night. Michele Naugle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Naugle, resides | on the line between Plymouth and Jackson Township, which fortunately is considered in the Lake-Lehman District. ; Michele has been active in. field hockey for three years and | was a wrestling cheerleader and participated in track for four. years. “I will miss a lot of things at Lake-Lehman,” said Michele, “My friends, the activities, the teachers, it has been great.” She plans to attend Towson State University in Maryland in the Fall and will play field | hockey.
