Mildred Cooney of Trucksville, a
nurse at the V.A. Hospital in
‘Wilkes-Barre, has used her inter-
lest in photography to record dis-
plays of support for the troops in
the Persian Gulf.
“I have a brother in the service
in Saudi Arabia and as a result the
arious displays in the Back Moun-
tain had a special meaning to me,”
he said.
“I was so impressed by the dif-
ferent displays on the houses,
businesses, signs and poles that I
thought I would take photos of
em and through the camera lens
try to show the emotions of people
in the Back Mountain area.”
Cooney didn't limit herself to
er own neighborhood when she
set out to chronicle. the displays.
| “I took photos in Trucksville,
Shavertown, Dallas, Pikes Creek
and Harveys Lake, capturing the
beauty and the emotion that was
possible with my camera without a
high-power zoom lens. 1 took a
Lotal of 68 pictures and mounted
em on white poster board to
flisplay it if possible and to show to
ny brother when he returns home.
