The Knights took the 119 bout when Charlie Roper pinned Dan Harris in 3:03, 135-Ib. bout with Charlie Jacoby taking a major 14-1 decision from Matt Fraley, 145-1b. bout with Jason Naugle decisioned Keith Burritt 14-1, the 152- lb. bout with Mike Tereska taking a 3-2 decision from Chris Edwards and the final three bouts, 171, 189 and Hwt. Losing for the Knights were John Morgan, Jesse Sorber, Jason McDade, Rich Peiffer, Justin Goodwin and Rich Williams. The Knights have two of the best Last season the Black Knights of Lake-Lehman wrestled to a well-fought tie with the Meyers, but this year the Knights used the final three bouts to pull out a 31-25 win over the Mohawk squad. The win kept the Knights on top of the West Division of the Wyoming Valley Conference. “We knew our kids could win but we also knew it could come down to the last bout, which meant a lot of pressure on the final wrestlers. But we felt they could handle it,” said coach Phil Lipski. Co-coaches Lipski and Williams knew it was going to be a tough close match between the two teams and they were elated when their lightweight grapplers came through with enough points to keep the match close. But with the Mohawks leading 25-16 going into the 171 bout the Knights knew they had to take the final bouts to guarantee a win. 171 Terry Martin took a major 10-2 decision from Mohawk Dan Jones and '189 Mike Geurin won a technical foul wrestlers in the state in their class in over Mohawk Tom Kerpovich in 5:58. Tara Lisnow set the pace for Dallas with 29 points scoring 13 of them in the final quarter when the Lady Mounts outscored the Hawkeyes 19-4 to pick up their 52-35 win. The Mountaineers held a 24-19 lead at halftime led by Lisnow's high 14 points in the opening half. The Mountaineers record now stands at 2-6. Lady Knights lose to Vikings Jennifer Smith tossed in 12 points and Alyson Davis and Heidi Wenrich put in 10 each, Bout it wasn’t enough to outscore the Vikings of Bishop Hafey whose Tish Kringe hit 13 of 29 points in the fourth period to help lead the Vikings to a 70-39 win over the Lady Knights of Lake-Lehman. Kathy Nemshick hit 16 poinis and Lynn Rybarczyk tossed in 12 to aid in the Vikings big win. The loss dropped the Lady Knights to 6-3 while the Vikings move up to 7-2. Knights lose heartbreaker to Mohawks In a game that was close all the way, the- Meyers Mohawks nipped the Lake-Lehman Knights 48-47 Saturday. The Mohawks led 24-22 at halftifne thengained a three point edge it the end of the third period. The Black Knights refused to give up and with less than two minutes to play in the game Knight Rich Davis cut the Mohawk lead to 48-47. The Knights kept the ball the final 20 _ seconds but they were not successful in making a goal. Davis and Bob Jones had 14 points each for the Knights and Ben Haughney tossed in 13. Two of Jones shots were three-pointers. Lady Knights defeat Meyers Lake-Lehman's Lady Knights defeated the Meyers girls 45-35 on the Back Mountain court by outscoring the Lady Mohawks 19-8 in the third quarter. The Mohawks were in front 17-15 at the half but the Knights came on strong in the third quarter behind the scoring of Jennifer Smith and Alyson Davis. Smith tossed in 13 points and Davis scored 11. Heidi Wenrich added seven. The win moved the Lady Knights Conference record to 6-2. The Argents went on the boards first when they won at 103 by a forfeit. Eric Williams then gave Dallas six points by pinning 112 Bill Watkins in 47 seconds, and 119 Harry Phillips added six more for the Mounts on a forfeit from Hoban. 125 Bob Jesse moved the score to 18-6 by pinning Joseph Graham in 29 seconds and Frank Natitus made it 22-6 by taking a 12-0 decision from Mike Crawford.
