Lake-Noxen students place first in regional math competition The above students under the direction of their teacher, David Smith, competed in a regional math competition against 70 schools in the area. Each month for six months, the students completed six math questions. When the results were compared, this group of sixth grade Lake-Noxen students came out first in the competition. Baranowski to spike at Juniata John Baranowski of Dallas (Lake-Lehman High School) will be a student-athlete at Juniata Col- lege next fall, according to Juniata men's volleyball coach Larry Bock. A 5'11 setter/hitter, Baranow- ski had an outstanding four-year volleyball career for Lake-Lehman High School and his father, coach John Baranowski, Sr. He earned first-team All-State honors as a senior and a second team All-State selection in 1989. Baranowskireceived All-District honors as a freshman and sopho- more and was chosen the “most valuable player” of the Wyoming Valley Conference as a junior and senior. He also was selected to the All-Tournament teams of the Be- thlehem Liberty, Plum Classic and Lake-Lehman Invitational Tourna- ments this year. “John is an exceptional athlete from one of the state’s top scholas- tic programs,” says Bock. “We feel that he can be among the East's premier outside hitters as a colle- giate player. We're all looking for- ward to John's four years at Juni- ata.” The Juniata men's volleyball program made quite a debut in its first season as a varsity sport this spring.
