Visiting Nurse Association elects new officers The Visiting Nurse Association League for Home Heaith Services held theirannual ineeting recently. Mrs. JoAnn Hall, Dallas, was ~ elected president; Mrs. Beity Kil- lian, Nanticoke, vice-president; Mrs. Jane Landau, Kingston, ~ treasurer and Mrs. Minnie MacLel- lan, West Pittston, secretary. Mrs. Lenore Aston, Wilkes-Barre, will serve as corresponding secretary. Nancy Carey, Isabel Davis, Carmela DeBonis and Mariellen Mosca were elected to the board of directors. A check for $2500 was presented to Mary Ann Keirans, administrator of the VNA. This gift will be added to the Endowment Fund which was established to help VNA patients who do not have adequate home health in- surance or who cannot afford the needed care. Certificates of appreciation were given to retiring board members Tina Bufalino, Marie Greenwald, Mary Hale, and Ceil Harrison. eel WILKES-BARRE CAMPUS Booster Club honored The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Booster Club was recently honored for their support of athletic programs at the campus in Lehman. The group hosted numerous programs throughout the year including an all- sports banquet, and helps raise money to support varsity teams and sports clubs. Cindy Slocum named All-American Cindy Slocum was on of three members of the Bloomsburg Uni- versity softball team named to the NCAA Division II All-American Team at a banquet held in con- junction with the national cham- pionship tournament in Midland, Mich. Seniors Cindy Slocum of Dallas and Gina Lindenmuth of Whitehall, alaong with sophomore Marty Laudato of Malvern, all earned first team honors. In addition, head coachJan Hutchinson was selected as the Mid-Atlantic Region “Coach of the Year.” Balloting for the national player and coach of the year takes place Dodgers win squeaker 10-9 The Back Mountain Dodgers, 13 year olds won 10-9 over Fort Swoyer. The winning pitcher was Brian Ford, who had nine strike- outs. Key hitters for the Dodgers were Mike De Francesco who was 3-for- 3 and Dan Bucan who went 2-for- 4. All four honorees, as well as the entire team, were in atten- dance at the banquet. The honor makes the third time Slocum has been awarded All- American recognition as shewas a second team choice in 1988 and 1989. Slocum has been the only player to perform in all 50 games and leads the team in at-bats (190), runs (64), and hits (73) including 11 doubles, two triples, and seven home runs. The Huskies’ outfielder also has 25 runs batted in, an on- base percentage of .403, a slug- ging percentage of .574 and a field- ing percentate of .965. In her four season at Bloomsburg, Slocum has a career batting average of 3.82 with 184 hits in 482 at-bats. She has 26 doubles, eight triples, and 10 home ‘runs to lift her career slugging percentage to .510.
