The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, May 16, 1990 11 SCHOOL Misericordia commencement Saturday College Misericordia’s 64th Commencement Convocation will be held Saturday, May 19, at 1 p.m., on the South Lawn of the College campus, announced Dr. Pasquale DiPasquale, Jr., Miseri- cordia president. Baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. followed by a brunch for graduates and their guests. Susan Fort Sordoni, past chair and member of College Misericor- dia’s Board of Trustees and a Misericordia alumna, will address the graduates. In her Commence- ment address, Mrs. Sordoni will stress the importance of maintain- ing the liberal arts curriculum in higher education, providing a value-oriented education, and continuing Misericordia’s tradition of service to the region. Dr. Di- Pasquale, Jr., presiding over his first Misericordia commencement, will confer degrees upon approxi- mately 190 students participating in this year’s commencement ex- ercises. Honorary doctorate degrees will be awarded to Carol Rittner, RSM and Susan Fort Sordoni for their dedication and service to the Col- lege and for their significant con- tributions to humanity and educa- tion. The Catherine McAuley Medal will be presented postumously to Mary Concilia Moran, RSM. Invocation will be given by the Rev. John C. Petrasko, Misericor- dia chaplain. The Most Rev. The group spent many days learning about farms, animals, and plants. During the study the children &) made butter, visited a farm, planted vegetables and compared the difference in various eggs. Trophies were won by : Lehman in every catagory of competition, receiving Superior ratings in field show, concert, parade and indoor guard with Jazz Band receiving an excellent rating. The trombone and flute soloists were awarded individual trophies for their performance in Concert Band. On Wednesday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school, the Jazz Band will perform at the annual Awards Night. All the band members will be honored and the event is open to the public.
