Cancer specialist Cooper Joins Associated Internists Associated Internists of Wyo- ming Valley announces the asso- ciation of Dr. Karen Cooper, medi- cal hemotologist/oncologist of Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City, to its practice. Dr. Cooper received her medical training at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv, Israel. Follow- ing a residency in Internal Medi- ~ cine at Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Cooper completed a three year fellowship in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. While at Memorial Sloan Ketter- ing Cancer Center, Cooper was the recipient of a National Research Award for a Chemotherapy Train- ing Program and also the 1988 Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund Fellow. Cooper has conducted multiple chemotherapy research trails to include the initial research, the patient care, and finally, the pres- entation of results. She also has been involved in early cancer de- tection with the use of pathological techniques. Several papers from Dr. Karen Cooper Cooper's work have been submit- ted for publication to the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the Journal of Neuro-Oncology and the ameri- can Journal of medicine. Dr. Coo- per is a member of the American College of Physicians. Presented Recognition Plaques and Savings Bonds by Donald D. Smith, P.E., President, were Arthur R. Thompson A.I.A. and Robert E. Donnora. They join three other current employees, John A. Burke, Robert J. Milligan and Peter L. Roushey, who were honored in January of this year with 25 years or more of employment at Smith, Miller & Associates, Inc. A resident of Harveys Lake, Mr. Thompson has been the Project Manager for clients in such diverse areas as education, housing, in- dustry, health and medicine, and commercial business. Two Kings and Queens were named during the festivities for categories “Walking to Age Two” and “Ages Three to Five". Marcy Lynn Kester, 2, Dallas was awarded a $50 U.S. Savings bond as one of the queens. The Baby Parade was held on the band shell on the Medical Arts Building grounds, 534 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston.
