Christine Yezilski. of Ransom Road was a student designer at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science's annual student fashion | show, April 17. Members of the College's Fashion Industry Association presented their own fashion designs and a special showing of the spring and summer collections of Polo/Ralph Lauren. ' Yezilski is a freshman fashion design major at the college. PCT&S is an independent, four-year accredited institution offering bachelor of science and master’s degrees in 20 majors encompassing programs in textiles, business, fashion, design and science. i Laura Dover will perform in "Cabaret" Laura Dover, Shavertown, will perform in the Bucknell University production of “Cabaret” this month. ' Dover is the daughter of Howard and Lynn Dover, 351 Crane Road, and is a 1988 graduate of Dallas Senior High School. A freshman at Bucknell, she is majoring in psychology. Bucknell Univrsity is a highly selective liberal arts institution with professional programs in engineering, management and education. Linda Richie interns at children's center Linda Marie Richie, a senior majoring in psychology at King's College, is completing an internship at the Children’s Service Center in Wilkes- .Barre as part of her studies. ' She has been placed in the Parent Counselor Program at the Center. ~ A 1985 graduate of Dallas Senior High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Richie of Shavertown. ' At King's she is minoring in communications and is a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society. King'sisan independent, four-year, coeducational institution founded by the Holy Cross Fathers. Andrew Merrill is student of month at Wyoming Seminary Andrew Merrill, a senior at Wyoming Seminary College Pre- paratory School in Kingston, has been selected Student of the Month for April by the Kingston Lions Club. A resident of Shavertown, Mer- rill was elected into the Wyoming Seminary chapter of the Cum Laude Society and has also been named a National Merit Finalist. In his junior year he won the Rensselaer Math and Science Award, tied for first place in the statewide JETS computer contest, finished second in the Luzerne County Math contest and was the winner of Wyoming Seminary's 1988 Oratorical contest. He has been a member of the school’s Mock Trial Team for four years. The 1989 team placed first in the district. A workshop entitled “Resusci- tate Your Teaching: Breathe New Life Into the Same Old Stuff” has been scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, at the Sheraton Crossgates on Public Square. The program will explore the reasons for educator burnout and identify mental blocks to creativ- ity. The humanistic teacher-learner relationship will be discussed as well as many techniques for mak- ing teaching and learning an excit- ing experience. The workshop instructor will be Sheri Blatt Stern, R.N.C., a critical care nurse with seven years expe- rience teaching baccalaureate nursing students at Towson State University. She also presents work- shops nationwide on both clinical and educational topics. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from University of Maryland and is author of ar- ticles published in nursing jour- nals. She has become known for her fun in education philosphy and her belief that learning is best achieved through memorable ex- periences and self-discovery. The Pennsylvania Nursing As- sociation and the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners of Nurs- ing Home Adminstrators have approved this program for six hours.
