The Lady Mounts need to play : outstanding basketball against the Berwick team which is presently ' tied for third place in Division I with Bishop Hoban - just a game behind Pittston Area in second. Thursday's game with Tunkhan- nock could be easier since the Lady Tigers are at 1-6, but they are improving with each week's com- petition. Laura Poynton set the pace for the Lady Mountaineers with 19 points in Friday night's game on the Dallas court, scoring from both the outside and under the basket including a three-pointer. Lisa Hite tossed in 17 points and played good defense in the second half while holding the Spartans Kathy Kane to only nine points. Aria 3 mo also hit the nets for 17 points and she also led the Lady Mounts in rebounds. There will be plenty of laughs for the entire family during the fun- filled evening. You haven't wit- nessed basketball until you have seen it played on donkeys. It is really a little different than regular basketball. Taking a shot at the basket, when the donkey decided you have been on his back too long, can be very difficult. Every shot at the basket must be taken while sitting on the donkey. DENMON Staff Writer Coming off a mild 27-22 upset over previously undefeated Lake-Lehman, the Dallas Mountaineers go into this week's competition with a positive attitude. Their win over the Knights gives the Mountaineers the confidence they need to go against Bishop Hoban and Tunkhannock this week, their coach Steve Kaschenbach believes. “Bishop Hoban is down some this season and we should be able towin,” Kaschenbach said. “Tunkhannock is tough, especially if they have their heavyweight, back and our kids will have to wrestle tough if they want to come away with a win.” Dallas managed to win five of their bouts with Lake-Lehman and wrestled to two draws to the surprise of the Knights. Kaschenbach believed the turning point in the match was in the lower bouts when 125 Matt Balberchak tied Knight Rich Pfeiffer and his boys took key wins at 130, 135 and 140. Lake-Lehman Coach Ed Ladamus said both teams wrestled well. “It was a good match,” Ladamus said. “Every bout was close and even Tom Tereska did a great job of avoiding a pin by Ogurkis. They're down this week but they can be tough. We have Wyoming Area Saturday and they're tied at the top. They are tough in their light weights but not as strong in the upper weights. We're matched pretty evenly, but we won't be able to let them get too farahead in the lower weights.” KNIGHTS TOP MEYERS 36-26 Earlier in the week, the Knights defeated Meyers 36-26 with Ray Rosencrans, J.J.
