This year, two students have qualified for the award. Tracy Baines, duaghter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Baines, served as drum major for the 1987 Marching Band season. She has participated in concert and jazz band and has qualified for District Band Festi- vals for the past three years. Dwin has qualified to participate in the District Band Festivals and Regional Band Festivals for the last two years. In addition, Dwin is a 2 year member National Senior Honor Society and was named to Who's Who Among american High School Students in both her Jun- jor and Senior years. She will at- tend Ithaca College in the fall as a music major with a combined out- side field of math. Dallas High Class of 1948 reunion The Dallas Borough High School Class of 1948 held their 40th reunion recently at the Castle Inn, Dallas. There was a ‘‘get acquainted” hour before a homestyle dinner was served. Sheila Kelly McCarthy and Marge Elkins McCarthy worked to bring together 16 of the remaining 19 members of the class and their spouses. The two deceased members, Joseph LeGrand and 2D Allen Knecht were remembered ‘‘in memoriam.” Teachers who attended were Mrs. Marietta Gay, Florence and Caddie LaBar, Mrs. Mary Morgan Robinson, Mrs. Julia Dalton Patterson and Mrs. Louise Colwell. The next afternoon a cookout for the class and guests was held at the home of Nancy and Ray Daring. Wilkes-Barre General Hospital executive, Samuel Soltis, adminis- trative officer, recently earned membership into the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). Membership is achieved after successfully completing a rigorous six-hour combined written and oral examination, which encompasses all facets of healthcare manage- ment. In addition, Soltis passed the Pennsylvania Nursing Home Ad- ministration Exam. At General, Soltis is responsible for the administrative management of the Cardiology and Neurophysi- ology Departments, and he over- sees all regulatory compliances.
