Marilyn Gregorski, director of activi- ties at The Meadows, announced recently that the third in a series of Health Fairs will be conducted at The Meadows, Wednesday, April 27. The public is invited and urged to take advantage of the free screening at the Fair for cholesterol, blood pres- sure, vision and proper eye care. Geis- inger Medical Center will be in charge of the cholesterol testing, Wellness Company, the blood pressure and Pug- liese Eye Clinic the vision and eye care. The screening will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The fair is the third event conducted by The Meadows as a means to express the personnel’s appreciation for the public support they have received since the home opened in August five years ago. We can’t express enugh how much we apprecipte the support we have had from the Back Mountain community,” Ms. Gregorski said. In honor of the volunteers, The Meadows will hold a Recognition Luncheon during National Health Week this month. Two of the residents will welcome the volunteers and women will be presented with corsages and the men with boutonnieres. Staff members will wear V’s made of red ribbon to indicate their appreciation to the volun- teers. In the recent community room and chapel which have been added to the home, The Meadows has had two American Red Cross Blood Drives. The community room is available to var- ious organizations as a meeting place and interested groups may obtain addi- tional information by contacting Ms. Gregorski. . Nursing students from College Miser- icordia, music students and other col- lege volunteers also assist the staff personnel with residents. The Meadows Auxiliary is an active group and con- duct numerous activities for the resi- dents. They are presently planning a Mother’s Day Social for May 7 and also making plans for only fundraiser of the year ‘“Market on the Pond”, a flea market, which has been very successful in the past. Last year the proceeds of the flea market were used to purchase a van which transports the residents to the doctor’s and other places it is necessary for them to go.
