Sr. Catherina’s class participated in a spelling bee Friday. Sister is very confident about them and claims much progress is being made in her room. OT SECOND GRADE: The second graders, Room 2-202, Sr. Elizabeth’s oinsettia contest, along with Room -216, Mr. Simon's class. They will both enjoy a pizza party in the very near future. The second graders are also reyv- ing up for their robotic play which will be held on Wednesday, Dec, 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. -0- THIRD & FOURTH GRADE; The third and fourth graders are also gearing up for their Christmas play, “No Vacancy.’”’ This year, the chorus will be dressed as ‘‘travel- ers”. IN THE BASKETBALL-CHEER- LEADER ACTION: The Gators Varsity Basketball and cheerleaders both won first-place trophies in the Knights of Columbus Tournament held at Gate of Heaven during the Thanksgiving weekend. In the Knights of Columbus Tour- nament at Bishop OReilly last week, the Gator Varsity basketball team lost to St. Nick’s-St. Mary's. We have a chance to beat them Monday night, the 9th and we have the advantage of the home court. -0- STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Jack Jones, son of Mr, and Mrs. Jack Jones of Shavertown, is a member of the Student Council, an altar boy for Gate of Heaven Church and a member of the varsity basketball team. He enjoys sports and is a great fisherman. He is undecided about his high school choice, but would like to attend N.C. State and eventually become a doctor.
