14 THE DALLAS POST/Wednesday, October 9, 1985 A. <— Dallas Post/Ed Campbell On the run Lake-Lehman quarterback Len Annetta gains yardage Saturday afternoon while being chased by defender Tom Skaff of the Meyers Mohawks. Lehman pulled off a 15-14 squeaker over their Wyoming Valley Conference opponents. Na SN 3! i Oops! Meyers quarterback Gene Maffei had intended to throw a pass but Lake-Lehman’s Jim Nelligan had different ideas as he nailed Maffei for a loss. Nelligan and his Black Knight teammates recorded a 15-14 victory over the Mohawks Saturday afternoon. Following are scores from games played in the Back Mountain Mini Football Organization: . NORTHEAST October 6, found the Cowboys playing host to the Northeast Cru- saders. In the game, Bob Barbacci opened a hole in the Crusaders line, and plowed for a 10 yard T.D. The extra point attempt found running back Dave Kaczmarkek scamper around the left end of the Crusaders line for the point after. The Cowboys next scoring drive ended following a pitch out to J.J. Stagis with a pass back to QB Clark Van Orden for a 10 yard T.D. Jim Fry’s run for the extra point was good. QB Van Orden was again to the air finding Bill Jesse in the Knight's end zone for a two yard T.D. play. The point was no good. The Cowboys shined, both offen- sively and defensively as they held the Crusaders deep in their own territory for most of the game. Although playing some scrappy football, the Crusaders were on the losing end of this one, finale score Cowboys 22, Northeast 0. The Cowboy B team had rough going in the first quarter as the Crusaders stopped them cold. How- ever, coming back big in the Selenski one to running back Fred Rosencrans was good for a three yard TD. The point failed. The second reception, this time to left end Steve Gaydos was good for a 3 yard T. Again, the point failed. Early in the fourth quarter, run- ning back Jeremiah Van Orden, with the aid of some fine footwork, dashed 20 yards into the Crusaders end zone. Point after failed. The Cowboys final score came on a hard fought three yard run by Bob Jesse. The extra point was good, via a quarterback sneak by Selenski. Final score, Cowboys 26, North- east 0. Good defensive play by Mike Gerwin, Bob Jesse and Tony Bealla was instrumental in getting the Cowboys good field position. Again this week, Bealla, who kicks of for the Cowboys had a fine day, keeping the Crusaders chasing the ball deep in their own territory. LAKE-LEHMAN The Dallas Cowboys both A and B teams nothed up two more victories within the past three weeks. Sep- tember 22, saw the Cowboys travel to Lake-Lehman to face the Black Knights. S In the A game, the Cowboys wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as converted linesman Bob Barbacci, rumbled 11 yards for the first Cowboy score. The extra point attempt failed. Lightning struck again quickly, as J.J. Stragis found an opening in the Knights defensive line and scored on a 25 yard scamper. The point after was made by Bob Barbacci. Barbacci was to come back again, this time on a 50 yard gallop into the Knights end zone. The Cowboys scoring for the afternoon was over. Top notich interior line blocking was instrumental in all scoring drives.
