Thanksgiving is always declicious, overloaded with turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. After dinner, watching football games is the order of the day for many. In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, members of the staff of The Dallas Post are sharing some of our favorite holiday recipes with our readers. Included are recipes for Pineapple Sheet Cake, Southern Pecan Pie, Magic Cookie Bars, Pineapple Cheese Mold, Corn Bread-Oyster Dressing, Shrimp Log and Cauliflower-Broccoli Salad. It is our sincere hope that all our readers receive continued blessings through the year. From all of us at The Post — Happy Thanksgiving. SOUTHERN PECAN PIE (Charlot M. Denmon) 3 eggs 2/3 c. sugar 1 ¢. pecan halves 1 c. dark corn syrup 1/3 ¢. margarine, melted 9”’ unbaked pie shell Beat eggs thoroughly with sugar, syrup and margarine. Add dash of salt if desired. Add cup of pecan halves. Mix and pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake in moderate (350 degree) oven for 50 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between center edge comes out clean. Cool. MAGIC COOKIE BARS (Dotty Martin) 2 sticks oleo 2 c¢. graham cracker crumbs 12 oz. chocolate chips 12 oz. butterscotch chips 2 ¢. coconut 1 c. chopped nuts 2 cans Eagle Brand Milk Melt margarine in a jelly roll pan (10x15). Add crumbs (enough to soak up oleo). Ad nuts, choclate chips, butterscotch chips, and coco- nut. Drizzle Eagle Brand Milk over top. When cool cut into small squares. Allow to cool completely before removing from the pan. PINEAPPLE CHEESE MOLD (Peggy Poynton) 1 sm. pkg. lime jello 1 c. boiling water 1 c. evaporated milk 1 c. cotage cheese 1 sm. can crushed pineapple, drained ¥ c. mayonnaise % c. chopped celery Ys c. chopped nuts Stir jello and boiling water until dissolved. Cool slightly. Combine with evaporated milk, cottage cheese, crushed kpineapple, mayon- naise, celery and nuts. Pour into 1 quart mold. Chill until firm. When cake is cool spread with ple then with cool whip. Garnish with chopped nuts. SHRIMP LOG (Betty Bean) 8 oz. cream cheese 1, jar 1g. cocktail sauce Broken or tiny shrimp in a can Mold cream cheese to form a log. Mix cocktail sauce with drained. shrimp. cover log with mixture.
