According to state law, such trials must be paid for by the county which originally sentenced the inmates. Most of the prisoners were charged with drug- related offenses, beating up other inmates and attempted escape from the prison. Clerk of Courts Eugene Hudak sent bills to 17 different counties last summer but only nine paid their bills. Luzerne County may sue the eight counties who did not pay their bills to recover the $8,700. Man charged with robbery Kevin Michael Harvey, 23, of Jeffrey, New Hamp- shire, pleaded guilty Sept. 7 to charges of armed robbery and theft stemming from the abduction of a Harveys Lake man. Entering the pleas before Common Pleas Judge Bernard Podcasy, Harvey was ordered returned to Luzerne County Prison where he has been held on on the robbery charge. Harvey was hitchhiking in the Tunkhannock area on April 4 and was offered a ride by Herbert Henry Husband of Harveys lake. After asking Husband to drive him to Allentown, Harvey pulled a knife on the Harveys Lake man on Route 309 in Wilkes-Barre Township, and ordered Husband to drive south on Interstate 81. At the Nuangola exit, Harvey ordered Husband out of the car and continued alone in Husband’s car. No action will be taken on the Kundrat case until the supply clerk is given the opportunity to request a hearing and appear before the board to defend himself. The board charged Kundrat with ‘negligence of duty’’ and ‘‘acts of improper conduct.” The board voted 6-2 in the Kundrat resolution with Albert Pisaneschi and Joseph O’Donnell voting against the action. The board vote was 8-0 on the Gabriel resolution. Patricia Gregory did not attend the Sept. 12 meeting.
