A citizens’ group from Kingston Twp. met Sept. 15 to
fight a landfill proposed for the Bunker Hill section of
the township.
The Concerned Citizens of Kingston Twp., a newly
formed group consisting of nine members, is seeking
legal advice on how to fight the landfill.
Last week, the township planning commission rec-
ommended a zoning change to operate the landfill.
Concerned Citizens was formed after that meeting.

Boat drivers are cited
James M. Walsh, 17, of 18 Westminster Drive,
Dallas, and Michelle Kravitsky, 23, RD 3, Box 177,
Dallas, were issued citations on Sept. 12 in connection
with an Aug. 16 boating collision on Harveys Lake.
The citations, filed with District Justice Leonard
Harvey of Dallas, indicate the accident occurred when
a motorboat driven by Walsh struck a drifting boat
occupied by Miss Kravitsky and Arlene Kozich, 30, of
64 Gerald St., Dallas.
Walsh is charged with operating the boat, which is
owned by Alex Covaleski, 1 Hillside Ave., Harveys
Lake, in a manner that could have caused bodily
injury or death while Miss Kravitsky is charged with
failing to use required navigation lights.

prisoners charged with crimes while at the prison.
According to state law, such trials must be paid for by
the county which originally sentenced the inmates.
Most of the prisoners were charged with drug-
related offenses, beating up other inmates and
attempted escape from the prison.
Clerk of Courts Eugene Hudak sent bills to 17
different counties last summer but only nine paid their
bills. Luzerne County may sue the eight counties who
did not pay their bills to recover the $8,700.
Man charged with robbery
Kevin Michael Harvey, 23, of Jeffrey, New Hamp-
shire, pleaded guilty Sept. 7 to charges of armed
robbery and theft stemming from the abduction of a
Harveys Lake man.
Entering the pleas before Common Pleas Judge
Bernard Podcasy, Harvey was ordered returned to
Luzerne County Prison where he has been held on
on the robbery charge.
Harvey was hitchhiking in the Tunkhannock area on
April 4 and was offered a ride by Herbert Henry
Husband of Harveys lake. After asking Husband to
drive him to Allentown, Harvey pulled a knife on the
Harveys Lake man on Route 309 in Wilkes-Barre
Township, and ordered Husband to drive south on
Interstate 81. At the Nuangola exit, Harvey ordered
Husband out of the car and continued alone in
Husband’s car.
Lehman trims bus routes
School days have gotten longer for children in the
Lake-Lehman School District as a result of a school
board decision to trim transportation costs.
Last June the school board voted to sell its fleet of
eight buses for $103,000 and hire outside contractors to
transport pupils. The board also voted to eliminate
four after-school bus runs which transported approxi-
mately 125 students who attend West Side Vocational-
Technical School in Pringle, or Bishop O'Reilly High
School in Kingston.
save the school district approximately $16,000 this
year, however, students must now remain at their
respective schools an additional 20 minutes each day.
Goodwin resigns post
Lehman Township Police Chief William Goodwin
plans to resign from that position to devote more time
Goodwin, 56, of Outlet Rd., Lehman, submitted his
resignation to the township supervisors Sept. 12. He
plans to end police work on Jan. 1, 1984.
Goodwin is a nine-year veteran of the Lehman police
force and is paid $6,000 forhis part-time police chief
position. He is also employed as a security guard at
contest the citations.
Employees dismissed
The Dallas School board voted to dismiss two of the
district’s employees at its meeting held Sept. 12.
The board voted to notify John J. Kundrat, central
supply clerk and John Gabriel, supervisor of buildings,
it plans to dismiss them from their jobs. On Aug. 8,
the board voted to terminate Gabriel for alleged
incompetency. Gabriel, however, filed suit in Luzerne
County and returned to his job pending the outcome of
a hearing which began Sept. 15.
No action will be taken on the Kundrat case until the
supply clerk is given the opportunity to request a
hearing and appear before the board to defend
himself. The board charged Kundrat with ‘negligence
of duty’’ and ‘‘acts of improper conduct.”
The board voted 6-2 in the Kundrat resolution with
Albert Pisaneschi and Joseph O’Donnell voting against
the action. The board vote was 8-0 on the Gabriel
resolution. Patricia Gregory did not attend the Sept. 12
meeting.
Supervisors warn bikers
The Lake Township board of supervisors voted, at
its Sept. 12 meeting, to place a newspaper advertising
warning that police will enforce laws dealing with
motorcycles and dirt bikes.
The ad will warn township residents that police will
enforce penalties against drivers riding unlicensed,
unregistered or improperly lighted bikes.
Township gets grant
Jackson Township will receive a $50,000 grant from
Community Development for the purpose of construct-
ing a recreational area in the township, it was
announced at the supervisors’ meeting held Sept. 12.
The land must be a minimum of at least two acres
and under the conditions of the grant, the township
will receive $10,000 for land purchase and $40,000 for
construction.
Supervisors want change
Kingston Township supervisors authorized Township
solicitor Ben Jones to redefine the meaning of mobile
homes so that the township’s zoning ordinance which
defines mobile homes and regulates their placement
can be redefined. ;
Mark Kunkle, township manager, said one section of
the ordinance requires all mobile homes must be
located in a mobile home park, while another section
says mobile homes on permanent foundations are
classified as permanent residences rather than mobile
homes.
Kunkle said the two sections of the law could cause
