Eighty-two students participated in graduation exercises at Penn State-Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, May 31. Sixty-three students were awarded associate degrees; one received a bachelor’s degree; 15 received certificates; and three others who will complete their studies in June were permitted to attend the ceremonies. Elvidge, Harford Ave., Shavertown, has received his B.S. Degree in Electrical ~~ Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. He graduated with distinc- tion placing second in his class of electrical engineers. elvidge is the recipient of a full fellowship from Cornell University. He will attend graduate school in the Fall of 1980 to pursue a master’s degree in electricial engineering. Elvidge is a member of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society. He was vice- president of that society in his senior year at Cornell. He has also been a member of the sym- phonic and jazz bands. the co-op program working summers at I.B.M., Endicott, N.Y. as a computer architecture design engineer. Elvidge is a 1976 graduate of Hatboro- Horsham High School, Horsham, Pa. and was valedictorian of his class. Mr. and Mrs. Russell P. Elvidge are former residents of Forty Fort, both having graduated from Forty Fort High School. Charles Riegel, Jr. LU degree Philip S. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Smith of Oak Hill was among a total of 1,046 baccalaureate and ad- vanced degree recipients honored by Lehigh during its 112th Commencement exercises June 1. English teacher at the school since 1966, is familiar with the workings of the school not standpoint but from a parents view also. Her daughter, Beth Jennings, graduated from Wyoming Seminary in 1977 and her son Blair Jennings is’ a member of the graduation class. <The title of her charge speech is 1980 which she hoped to convey to the graduates the pitfalls and the joys of leaving school and en- tering into a new life. Charles Riegel, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Riegel, Trucksville, graduated April 27, from the University of Pitt- sburgh with a B.S. from the College of Arts and Sciences. Riegel majored in computer science with a minor in mathematics and completed the four years with a 3.1 average. While at the university, Riegel served as treasurer of his frater- nity, Sigma Chi, and was chairman of a fundraising for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He also was a member of the fraternity’s housing committee. Riegel was student director of intramural sports at the university and was in charge of payroll and coordinating all facilities and recreation for the in- tramurals. He also was a member of the Inter- Week Committee. During the Summer of 1979 he coached the Shavertown Orioles Little Riegel has accepted a position as programmer analysis with Exxon’s Communication’ and Service Division Florham Park, N.J. He graduated from Dallas Senior High School in 1976 where he lettered in football, wrestling and track. Marjorie A. Wolensky, , daughter of Mrs. Anna H. Wolensky, R.D. 5, and the late Paul Wolensky received her degree from Lafayette College, Easton, Pa., May 25. She is a 1975 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School, Lehman; a for- mer exchange student to Katedralskolan, Linko- ping, Sweden, and received a bachelor of arts degree in in- ternational affairs. At dean’s list, chairman of Marquis Program Board, President of Slavic CLub, head resident advisor, member of Dana Scholars Program, executive committee of student government, Maroon Key Society, Health Services Advisory Committee, Pre-Freshman Day Committee, field hockey and lacrosse teams, student representative to the Admissions Office and participated in in- tramurals.
