_Drobnicki and Lisa Bond. 1 ‘Members of the Luzerne Dog Training Club are completing preparations for another in their series of dog obedience courses. The club has offered training classes in various locations throughout the county for the past seven years. The forthcoming course will be held in Wilkes-Barre, at the Cole Street Ice-A-Rama. Registration is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m., in the Ice-A-Rama, and will be immediately followed by an orientation session. Anne Green, club president, stressed that the orientation is for people, and asks that dogs be left home that night. Classes will be held on nine Tuesday evenings, including orientation night, with the final one, graduation, planned for June 22. Since the site is covered, classes will not have to be postponed in the event of bad weather. ‘The classes are taught by club members, all of whom have earned obedience degrees with their own dogs in American Kennel Club competition. Members of the club report that practically everyone has a good time getting to know other dog owners at the weekly sessions, and that the dogs not only become better pets and neighbors as a result of the training, but seem to enjoy themselves, too. Kay Sachs, the club's training director, pointed out that the course is open to all kinds of dogs, whether they are purebred or mixed- breeds, provided that they are at least six months old and have been immunized against distemper within the last year. Don’t forget to vote in April 22 primary Mrs. Sachs herself, although she earned an AKC degree with a Basset Hound, is currently working with a mixed- breed adopted last year from the Luzerne County SPCA. Anyone interested in further information about the obedience classes is invited to call Mrs. Sachs at 678-3531 in Moun- taintop, or Ronald Womelsdorf at 735-8639 in Sheatown.
