A deserving male and female from the Back Mountain will be selected by the judging committee on the basis of community service. Twelve Back Mountain service clubs have joined together to reestablish the Citizen’s Award which was formerly given by the Dallas Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis. Deadline for submitting applications is April 23. The awards will be presented at a dinner at the Irem Temple Country Club on May 2 starting at 7 p.m. The cost for the roast beef dinner is $5. The spacious and unusual kitchen of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Barbacci of Dallas will be included in by the Luzerne County Medical Society Auxiliary on Thursday, May 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Barbacci home was completed late last year and the owners have spent many hours hand finishing much of the interior and searching for furnishings suited to their taste. The house is an excellent blend of contemporary and traditional, with the magnificent natural redwood siding on the exterior, setting off the house to perfection. The kitchen is unique with its counter tops and walls of a cobolt blue brazilian ceramic tile, which adds a splash of color to the rustic brick also incorporated into the room. The dining room set belonged to the mother of Janice Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson of Harleysville recently became the bride of Daniel MacAvoy, son of Mr. and Mrs. - Sheldon -MacAvoy, Shavertown. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Richard Harris at the Bethel Baptist Church in Sellersville. A reception was held im- mediately following the ceremony in the social room of the church. The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a white satin gown trimmed with old- fashioned lace. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white baby breath. The maid-of-honor was Carol Johnson, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Judith and Susan MacAvoy, sisters of the bridegroom.
