The girls are traveling to Long Beach, Calif., where they hope to set up home and con- tinue their college education. Sorry to see them leave and I wish them the very best. The Osbornes have returned from a two week tour of the mid west where they visited their daughter Cindy Mohen and her husband Gene in Wisconsin. The Mitchells, Fred, Dolres, Donna and Brian of Phila- delnhia were on hand at the Iwanowskis this weekend. Looks like we made it...humming the song as I'm packing away. We made it all right-but first remember about four weeks ago I mentioned that Vin and I went to a nice restaurant in Wilkes-Barre to get away from it all and we sat almost on top of a feuding family? What I didn’t tell you was that the weekend after, we tried again. Naturally we had wall-to-wall company between one weekend and the next, so that on Sunday after kissing and hugging everyone ‘‘Ciao’’ Vin and I took off for Strouds- burg to another of our favorite restaurants. The tempera- ture was 99 degrees but that didn’t discourage us. Driving the hour or so we arrived, settled down with a cool drink and then placed our orders. I said to myself, ‘Self, you made it.” Right? Wrong! The air conditioning took a fit and there we sat in 110 degrees eating onion soup, etc. Do you that’s the end? Wait! The weekend after (between Monday and Friday company-so popular I wanna kill myself) Vin and I decided to try again. With friends, we traveled into town and settled in a Chinese restaurant. Don’t want to say anymore, the weather was about 95 degrees so the rest- aurant’s ice machine broke. No ice water, no cubes for drinks and to top it off we had to get the worse waiter this side of Canton. I could overlook a lot of things but rude- ness isn’t one. The waiter didn’t know how close he came from eating two from column A and one from column B. After three weekend tries do you think we gave up? No, we again were desperate. Should say I was. More com- pany, this time Vin’s parents Joe and Carmela Valenti who are more on the go than the New York ‘A’ train. And this time we made it. Excellent food, service, at- mosphere, company! Who could ask for anything more! I’m so musical this week, I should change my name to Julie Andrews. Vin said, “Who you kidding, how about Kate Smith.” St. Therese’s St. Therese’s Altar and Rosary Society, Shaver- town, is sponsoring a Rummage Sale on Sept. 13 and 14 in the church basement.
