FAMILY RESTAURANTS ¥ PAGE FOURTEEN Lehman High School Band and its followers to the International Azalea Festival in Norfolk, Va. where they marched in parade competition on Saturday morning at 9: 30 a.m. “Fifty bands from ten states including New Jersey, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware, North Carolina, Massachusetts, District of Columbia and Pennsylvania vied for top honors. The Lake- Lehman Band stole the show. Saturday afternoon at the Omni Hotel, the first place “Festival Award” trophy inscribed ‘1978 International Azalea Festival - BEST High School Band’’ was presented to the Lake- Lehman Band, directed by John Miliauskas and assisted. by Miss Linda Tough. Accepting for Lake- Lehman was Drum Major Kevin Wagner. The second place trophy, the Queen’s Award, was presented to Altoona, Pa. and the third place, Judge's Award went to Queen Ann County, Md. The band won in open competition with no classifications and was viewed by represen- tatives from several countries as well as the United States.
