BURDEN Bernard G. F. Burden, 74 Claude Street, Dallas, died Dec. 31 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. Born in Langdon Hills England, on May 9, 1900, he served with the Royal Air Force during World War I. He came to the United States in his early 20’s and formerly resided on Graham Avenue, Hanover Township, prior to moving to Dallas two years ago. He was a tool and die machinist, having worked for the Wallace-Murray Corporation in Scranton, retiring in 1965. Surviving are his widow, the former Leona G. Jackles; sons, Ronald B., Wilkes-Barre and Harvey A., Lake Tahoe, Nev.; daughters, Phyllis Lewis, Forty Fort; Marjorie H., Wilkes-Barre; Beverly A. Godleski, Dallas, and Nancy A. McCarroll, Leh- man. JOSEPH PARK Joseph W. Park, 79; of Dallas RD 4, died Dec. 29 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Dec. 24 on the Huntsville-Idetown Road, Route 118. Born Sept. 10, 1898, he was a life resident of Leh- man Township. A graduate of Lehman High School, East Stroudsburg State College and Susquehanna University, he had been a teacher for more than 40 years in the Jackson, Dallas and Lake Township school districts. Born in Luzerne, July 7, 1891, “he had resided in Dallas 40 years. He was a member of the first graduating class of University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, Wilkes- Barre. Jones was employed 27 years as a safety engineer by Pennsylvania Manufacturer’s Insurance Company, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1957. He was a former member and secretary of Luzerne School Board and later was a member and secretary of Dallas Township School Board. Jones also was a member of Dallas Township Zoning Com- mission. He formerly served as chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and was a past master and former secretary of Kingston Lodge 395, f&AM. Surviving is his wife, the former Marion Bigley.
