victim of a heart attack.
Born in Kingston, the
former Laura M. DeWitt,
she was a graduate of
Kingston High School and
resided at Huntsville the
last 35 years. Mrs. Keener
was a member of Forty
Fort United Methodist
Church.
Surviving are her
husband; children, Mrs.
Laura Hayston and Mrs.
Jacqueline Frantz, Dallas;
Thomas, Wilkes-Barre; 10
grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren.

daughter, Mrs. Patricia
Gena, Hornell, N.Y.; six
grandchildren; brothers,
Harold, Vermillion, Ohio;
Emil Jr., Carl and Lewis,
Edwardsville; sisters,
Mrs. Dorothy Blaine,
Sterling, N.J.; Mrs.
Marjorie Zimmerman,
Edwardsville; Mrs. Lydia

Bernard G. F. Burden, 74
Claude Street, Dallas, died
Dec. 31 in Nesbitt
Memorial Hospital.
Born in Langdon Hills
England, on May 9, 1900, he
served with the Royal Air
Force during World War I.
He came to the United
States in his early 20’s and
formerly resided on
Graham Avenue, Hanover
Township, prior to moving
to Dallas two years ago.
He was a tool and die
machinist, having worked
for the Wallace-Murray
Corporation in Scranton,
retiring in 1965.
Surviving are his widow,
the former Leona G.
Jackles; sons, Ronald B.,
Wilkes-Barre and Harvey
A., Lake Tahoe, Nev.;
daughters, Phyllis Lewis,
Forty Fort; Marjorie H.,
Wilkes-Barre; Beverly A.
Godleski, Dallas, and
Nancy A. McCarroll, Leh-
man.
Funeral was held
Wednesday morning with
the Rev. Stewart Pierson,
rector, St. Stephen's
Episcopal Church, Wilkes-
Barre, officiating.
Burial was in Oak Lawn
Cemetery, Hanover
Township, at the con-
venience of the family.

Chapple, 59, of 36 Glenview
Ave., Shavertown, died
Jan. 1, in Mercy Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre,
July 15, 1918, she resided in
the Back Mountain most of
her life. She was a member
of Shavertown United
Methodist Church. Her
husband, John L. Sr., died
in 1969.
Surviving are daughters,

Montrose; Mrs. Lloyd
Jennings, Shavertown;
Dianne and Michelle, at
home; sons, John Jr. and
Kenneth, , Shavertown;

Born in Jermyn, she
resided several years in
Luzerne and moved 43
years ago to Trucksville.
She was a graduate of
Jermyn High School, East

Rice, Jersey Shore; 12
granddaughters; 21 great-
grandchildren; sister, Mrs.
William E. Blight, Peck-
ville.
Funeral was Monday
from the family home with
Rev. E. Lee Brehm, pastor
of Trucksville UM Church,
officiating. Interment was
in Cedar Crest Cemetery,
Trucksville. Arrangements
were by Harold C. Snowdon

JOSEPH PARK
Joseph W. Park, 79; of
Dallas RD 4, died Dec. 29
in Nesbitt Memorial
Hospital from injuries
sustained in an automobile
accident Dec. 24 on the
Huntsville-Idetown Road,
Route 118.
Born Sept. 10, 1898, he
was a life resident of Leh-
man Township. A graduate
of Lehman High School,
East Stroudsburg State
College and Susquehanna
University, he had been a
teacher for more than 40
years in the Jackson,
Dallas and Lake Township
school districts.
Park also was a justice of
the peace for 40 years and
was a Lehman Township
supervisor at the time of
his death.

Mrs. Grant Ashburner,
Harveys Lake.

Albert L. Jones, 86, of 393
N. Pioneer Ave., Dallas,
died Jan. 1 in Leader
Nursing Center West,
Kingston.
Born in Luzerne, July 7,
1891, “he had resided in
Dallas 40 years. He was a
member of the first
graduating class of
University of Pennsylvania
Wharton School, Wilkes-
Barre.
Jones was employed 27
years as a safety engineer
by Pennsylvania
Manufacturer’s Insurance
Company, Wilkes-Barre,
retiring in 1957.
He was a former
member and secretary of
Luzerne School Board and
later was a member and
secretary of Dallas
Township School Board.
Jones also was a
member of Dallas
Township Zoning Com-
mission.
He formerly served as
chairman of the Salvation
Army Advisory Board and
was a past master and
former secretary of
Kingston Lodge 395, f&AM.
Surviving is his wife, the
former Marion Bigley.
Private funeral was at
the convenience of the
family with Rev. John S.
Prater, rector of Prince of
Peace Episcopal Church,
Dallas, officiating. In-
terment was in Fern Knoll
Burial Park, Dallas.
