We felt our boys outplayed them, we had several op- portunities but we fumbled the ball and a couple inter ceptions hurt us,” said Coach Rich Gorgone about the Knights 8-6 loss to the Coughlin Crusaders. ‘“We thought Ray Leskowski’s run for the two-point conversion was good but the official signaled the attempt was no good and he’s the boss. He was right there; we have it on film but it is at such an angle that it is difficult to tell. “Coughlin is a good team. They do a lot of things well and they have a lot of talented kids. “Our boys did a good job and Ray Leskowski and Jim Ashton are shaping up better each game. We have seven underclassmen playing offense and seven defense and they are making good progress. The Knights’ Randy Walsh took the ball at his own 10-yard line in the opening of the game and went down the field to the Crusaders’ 46-yard line. He would have gone all the way but he ran between two Coughlin defenders who took him down. The Knights had trouble running against hteCrusaders and Bert Balliet’s first pass was intercepted by M. Lavage at the Coughlin 47 yard line. Coughlin took the ball to the 11 yard line, then on 2, fake field goal play went to the Knights’ five where the Knights took over. Both teams played a strong defensive game y NEW SHIPMENT JUST ARRIVED during the first half and went into the locker rooms at the half with a scoreless tie. In the second half, after Scott Bonomo and Ed Hanko took the ball to the Knights’ eight yard line. Terry Warren took it over for a Crusader touchdown. The Crusaders faked a kick for extra point and Dave Shimshock hit Dan Balas for the two point con- version. The teams again locked horns on defensive play until the final quarter when Ray Leskowski took Balliet’s toss and carried it to the four yard line. On the next play with fourth down and two, Leskowski took the handoff and went over for six. Leskowski’s at- tempt for the two-point conversion run appeared successful but was not accepted by game officials. With nine minutes remaining in the game, Balliet intercepted Henry Goldowski’s pass and went to the Crusaders’ 20 yard line. The Knights went to the Coughlin 13 yard line but a Lehman fumble was recovered by the Crusaders’ Bonomo. With 2:09 remaining in the game, the Knights forced Coughlin to punt and took over on their own 41- yardline. On third and 11, a Knight fumble was recovered by Coughlin and the game ended 8-6. The Knights play the Mountaineers this Saturday at their home field. Traditionally, a Thanksgiving Day game, Lake-Lehman officials moved the game to said “We enjoy SHOE STORE . ® Cement Tools ® Power Tools ® Plumbing Tools Ceoreler rl (Lance Village) 288-6601 Name .. It should be an exciting game--sooner or later, we should get some breaks.
