Sunday afternoon, one of our local fire trucks was filling up at a neighborhood penny-pinching pump. The attendant, who was filling the truck, had one hand on the gasoline hose and the other holding his lighted the fire truck driver. The lesson ‘even those most knowledgeable about ' fire sometimes forget their careless’. It is my sincere hope that both the station attendant and the fire truck driver will be reminded of the necessary precautions of not smoking around gasoline pumps-especially when I’m in the car behind waiting to gas up. Who ever said, “I’m all thumbs’ after dropping a thing or two didn’t know what they were talking about. Did you ever put a thumb out of commission and try to count money, get dressed or the best, sew a thing or two. Last week I put my left thumb in retirement and had to make do with nine other clumsy fingers. It ~ wasn’t too bad, things went slow, but they were done. Then along came Friday when 400 patches had to be sewed on George's new Cub Scout uniform.
