Page 10 Jackson Township by Millie Hogoboom 696-2603 Talk about a snow storm. Last Thursday’s storm will be the topic of conversation for sometime to come. School children arrived home from one to three hours late, shoppers at the Mall were tied up in traffic for four hours returning to the Back Mountain, office workers in Wilkes-Barre found the main arteries clogged with aban- doned cars—not to mention those of us who had to sit at home and worry! Bob Maturi celebrated his birthday that day, bottled up in traffic for three hours. The lovely birthday dinner planned for him by his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Maturi, had to be postponed. However, Buck and Sally Shane greeted the storm with excitement. For them it was just a sign of things to come. Shortly after the first of the year, they will be moving to Woodstock, Vt., where they plan to operate a women’s sport- swear business featuring handsome British imports. Their new home will only be 20 miles from the famous Killington ski resort. They have sold their beautiful home on the Idetown Road to Juliette and Charles Epstein, whose pre- flood address was Yeager Avenue, Forty Fort. We bid the Shanes a fond farewell and extend a hearty welcome to the Epsteins who already have many friends in our com- munity. Once again it is time to wish Mrs. Charles Behee a happy birthday. Her 93rd birthday was celebrated Dec.6. She resides with her daughter, Helen Balliet, on the Chase Road, Mrs. Balliet recently entertained her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Balliet and son Burt Wayne, of Steele Road, and her son-in-law : and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Myers and children, Joy Ellen and Donnie, Mountaintop for dinner. Another birthday to be remembered is Don Bennett's “golden’’ birthday Dec. 16. Last Saturday the Bennetts en- tertained friends from Bloomsburg for dinner at their home, at The Newberry Estate, in honor of the occasion. Charles and Mary Ann Cigarski of Chase Road recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. The students of Wyoming Seminary recently enjoyed a musical program presented by Jim Anzalone of Hayfield Farm. Mr. Anzalone is a lawyer by profession but he also has a unique talent for singing and accompanying himself on guitar. His rendition of ‘‘Rocky Raccoon’’ was their favorite. Mrs. Raymond Perrego, of Reservoir Road Huntsville, entertained her son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Perrego and children Jonathan and Jocelyn of Dillsburg for the Thanksgiving weekend. George Bulford had niece Mrs. Clarence Myers, Overbrook Avenue. Well Charlotte Ashton was at it again. The first day of deer season she bagged a four point buck. A hunter for 25 years she hardly ever misses. Last year’s buck was a three pointer. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hogoboom entertained Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doran, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Weggel and Mr. and Mrs. Barry Cliff for dinner and bridge last Saturday night: The Women’s Auxiliary of the Jackson Township Fire Com- pany will have its annual Christmas meeting and party Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. at the fire hall. A travel Log will be presented by the Martz Bus Company. Afterwards refreshments will be served and gifts exchanged. The Auxiliary’s new officers for the coming year will be Mrs. Donnell Shaffer, president; Mrs. Ralph Esser, president; Mrs. Elmer Laskowski, secretary, and Mrs. Sidney Fielding, treasurer. Sympathy is extended to the John Wilkes family of Chase Road in the recent death of his mother, Mary Wilkes. Larry Milligan Recruit Grad Navy Seaman Recruit Larry A.
