A bake sale will be held in conjunction with the roast beef dinner at Shavertown United Methodist Church, Oct. 11. It will be conducted by the youth of the church to support the Youth Service Fund of the National Board of Missions. Shayvertown United Methodist Church School presented Bibles to children during the church school class on Christian Education Promotion on Sunday. Bibles are presented to the children of the third grade to encourage them to establish Bible reading in class and at home. Russell Gula, president of the student government, has an- nounced that in keeping with the decision of the students in 1968 to eliminate the customary ‘hazing’ of freshmen and in its place introduce frosh service projects, members of the student government and the committee decided that this year priority should be placed . on helping residents affected by the flood in Wyoming Valley. After three years of giving service on campus, the students have extended their campus ‘people help people” philosophy to the community, indicating their awareness of the need for service on a wider scale than the campus projects.
