Two Oak Hill senior high school students were the re- cipients of $25 awards for the highest scholastic achievement at the Monday meeting of the OafHill Civic Association. President Rowland Ritts pre- sented the checks to Cindy Osborne, Lake-Lehman High School, daughter of Theron and Shirley Osborne of Hemlock Drive and to Donna Passarella, ‘Central Catholic High School, daughter of Michael and Irene Passarella, Pine Street. Cindy, a member of the honor society for four years, will begin her freshman year at Bloomsburg State College and hopes to major in mathematics. Donna, captain of Central Catholic Strutters, will enter College Misericordia and major in ele- mentary education. An election for the offices of vice president and secretary was on the agenda. Vice Presi- dent Ray Iwanowski and Secre- tary Tom Yoniski were sworn in by President Ritts. The donation was made to Gate of Heaven Parochial School in apprecia- tion for their rerouting of the school bus in Oak Hill. The pre- vious bus stop for all children of the upper circle was at a ha- zardous location and caused parents great concern. A report on the role the association will take in regard Auction was given by Mrs. Vince Correale. The club will assist the Dallas Senior Woman’s Club at the refresh- ment booth. Men and women of the Oak Hill community who are interested in helping two hours during the auction are asked to telephone Mrs. Cor- reale. A summer picnic is being planned by the association for a Sunday in June or July. Eighth James, Five Dallas Seniors Tour Military Battalion Five Back Mountain area seniors from Dallas Senior High School recently toured the 759th Military Police Battalion at Fort Dix, N.J., announced SSG Lon G. Hagg, local Army repre- sentative. The purpose of the trip was to inform those students interested in law en- forcement in a military or civilian capacity. Those attending were Bruce M. Upon arriving at Fort Dix, the seniors were shown the correct procedure of making a military bed. During the afternoon, they toured the military Police Bat- talion and had a briefing on the procedure for dispatching mili- tary patrols. They also saw a basic combat training company and had a chance to talk to the drill instructor. A ‘representative from the New Jersey State Police ex- plained their programs and what was available in this field. A representative of Burlington County Community College ex- plained a program where a military policeman could attend school and obtain an associate degree in law enforcement, with the United States Army picking the military police.
