Kozemchak Sr. Mark Chamberlain, youth di- rector for the Luzerne-Lacka- wanna Environmental Council, announced today that the Stu- dent Coalition for Environmen- tal Action now has more than 10 participating high school and college ecology clubs as mem- bers. The ecology clubs are re- presentative of hundreds of stu- dents from Luzerne and Lacka- wanna counties. The projects of the Student Coalition are presently being determined by a steering com- ‘mittee of students from the two counties, Mr. Chamberlain said. The emphasis of the coali- tion for the next several weeks will be preparation for Earth Week, April 17-23. Students have ‘selected ' re-cycling, specificially paper re-cycling, as their main effort. During Earth Week, many students and ecology clubs will be initiating paper drives, es- tablishment of re-cycling “bins’’ in their schools and communities, and a general educational program which points up the importance of re- cycling as a means of protecting and conserving the valuable natural resource, trees.
