Commonwealth Telephone Company serves over 140,000 telephones in 16 counties in eastern and northeastern Misericordia Students Begin New Semester College Misericordia will of- ficially begin its spring semes- ter Monday as students return to classes following holiday va- cation. The students have been on semester break for nearly four weeks. The semester break at College Misericordia was longer this year than in pre- vious years as the college re- cently adopted a 4:4 plan for classes. Under the plan, the students attend classes for four months, have a month semester break, and continue with a four month long spring semester. One of the advantages of the program is that finals are com- pleted for the fall semester before the vacation period. When students return, they im- mediately begin the new semester. . Extension division classes at the college will also begin Monday with the first class meeting at 6 p.m. Extension classes scheduled prior to that period will not be held, ac- cording to Sister Mary Eloise McGinty, RSM, Registrar. Tuesday’s extension classes will be held as scheduled, she said. The spring semester at College Misericordia will ‘end May 17. Graduation ceremonies have been scheduled for May 21. Senior Citizens Plan Valentine Luncheon And New York Trip Emerson Perrine, district manager of Social Security Administration, was guest speaker at the Jan. 10 meeting of the Back Mountain Senior Citizens Club at College Misericordia. Mr. Perrine spoke on Medicare and Social Security and held a question and answer period afterward. The club discussed plans for the upcoming trip to New York to attend the Easter pageant.
