Dan Shaver and daughter Mrs. Henry Tuck and sons left Tuesday to visit daughter and sister Mrs. George Walter and family at Oyster Bay, Long Is- land. Linda Woolbert returned home after a year in Alaska, arriving just in time for Fath- er’s Day. After a week in the Allentown area it was surprising to hear about the great rainfall this area suffered. With the excep- tion of Sunday evening, the weather was fine down there, only 70 miles away. With Susie out of school, we visited some surrounding areas, Kutztown, Reading and Dorney Park which incidentally is a delight- ful place for the youngsters and adults and run by one family for many, many years. One person we missed at the local firemen’s fair and that was Arnold Yeust who had been hospitalized recently. Mr. and Mrs. Yeust recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and we trust will have many more. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bartz, Mt. Holly, N.J., were recent guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McFarland. Mr. and Mrs. James Martin and young son recently spent several days in Atlantic City. Accompanying them was Mrs. Andrew Witalis, New Jersey. PAGE TWELVE Mrs. Esther Nicely has re- turned home from Taylor, Mich., where she spent ten days with her daughter Mrs. Paul Evans and family and attended the graduation of her grand- daughter Paula Diane from High School. Esther hears regularly from her son Tech. Sgt. Robert Nicely and family who are now stationed in Tokyo. They will be abroad three years. Little Rob- ert Fred celebrated his 3rd birthday May 10 and his grandma sure misses him. dangerous corners Little Kathleen Whipple is home from Nesbitt Hospital after all those injuries suffered when she was struck by a car at the intersection of W. Center and Evergreen Streets. We are all happy for her parents, Fred and Judy that it turned out as well. Since that time I have heard many persons comment- ing on the need for reduced speed on W. Center and slower approach on Ferguson Avenue. Many are turning in at W. Franklin on their motorcycles and cars and racing through the area. It is difficult also at the Center Street approach since many turn in here to do their shopping.
